Bad, bad, bad.

Normally the day after a game, it's my pleasure to bring you the Winners and Losers column, where we look at who won the week, and whose play needs improvement. We laugh, we cry, we shake our fists at the jerk who missed a field goal or blew an assignment that cost the team points. This week is different.

There are no winners this week. The entire Philadelphia Eagles team loses. They lose because they weren't able to stop a middling Buccaneers team. They lose because the defense was routed by the 23rd ranked passing offense and the 10th ranked rushing offense. They lose because they didn't seem to care.

The offense once again missed blocks, missed assignments, miscommunicated and missed the chance to claw back into the race for the NFC East. It's impossible to watch this team and feel like the players have any confidence in their ability to dig themselves out of this mess. Until they do that, there's no reason for fans or observers to do it, either.

Much like last week's loss to the Dolphins, Sunday afternoon started promisingly. The Eagles used tempo and big plays to string together a 7 play, 86 drive that was capped off by a beautiful 39-yard catch and run by Josh Huff. But the Buccaneers scored 21 unanswered points before the Eagles were able to get another score of their own.

Then the second half started. The Eagles looked like they could still recover, but the Buccaneers started with the ball in the third quarter and put together a 15 play, 80-yard drive that ate 9:47 off the clock. By the time the Eagles offense was on the field, they were already down by 21.

Were there a few nice plays? Sure. Both Josh Huff and Darren Sproles had highlight touchdowns. But these types of plays were too few and far between to mean much. The offense finished with 383 total yards, which was actually one of their better outputs this season.

The defense is the biggest head scratcher here. We all knew the offense wasn't likely to come out and dominate. But the defense has proven this season that it's the best unit on the team. For most of the year the run defense was stout; the secondary opportunistic. But against the Bucs, the defense looked like a shadow of its former self. And as a result, Jameis Winston and Doug Martin had record-setting days.

Winston finished the day with five touchdowns and no picks, tying the NFL record for most passing touchdowns by a rookie. And Martin had 27 carries for 235 yards, which is the 19th-most yards gained in a single game in league history. And Martin's 235 yards are more rushing yards than the Eagles had allowed to any team all season.

But maybe more than anything, the Eagles lose as a team this week because they were unwatchable. The offense was stagnant, the up-tempo pace was MIA after the first quarter; the defense was lackadaisical. Once Tampa Bay took the lead, the Eagles looked like they were resigned to their fate. That's not good enough in the NFL, and that's certainly not good enough at home in a must-win game.

Could the Eagles still make the playoffs? Sure. Will they? Probably not. Do they deserve to? Not if they continue to play like this, they don't.

NOTES:

Josh Huff turned a 10-yard reception into an impressive 39-yard catch-and-run touchdown early in the first quarter. Then he wasn't even targeted for the rest of the entire game. Questionable strategy.

Jordan Matthews played the most snaps of any receiver by playing every single offensive snap. He finished with four receptions for 13 yards.

Jason Peters left the game early. He didn't suffer a new injury. Rather, it seemed like it was preservation since the Eagles were out of the game anyway. Lane Johnson shifted over to left tackle with Dennis Kelly taking over at right tackle.

Riley Cooper and Miles Austin each played 31 snaps. Cooper made his first catch in over a month and it was in garbage time. Austin dropped a pass. These guys are awful.

Second-year tight end Trey Burton got some offensive snaps due to Zach Ertz leaving the game early with a concussion.

Marcus Smith played 12 snaps and didn't record a single stat.

Eric Rowe played in the team's dime package late in the game.

An ugly loss with very few silver linings.

Well, that sure was something. Stop me if you've heard this before, but the Philadelphia Eagles needed to win their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for several reasons. Most importantly, they needed a win to stay alive in the NFC East and get the bad taste of the Miami Dolphins loss out of their collective mouths. But they also needed a win to prove that they deserve to be in the playoff hunt.

But instead of come out and take it to a mediocre Bucs team at home, the Eagles laid their biggest egg of the season. The defense was a seive, and allowed rookie quarterback Jameis Winston and running back Doug Martin to have career days.

No loss is pretty, but it's going to take some time for the Eagles to wash off the stink from this performance. Fortunately, they have a short week, as they'll be traveling to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Let's take a look at how each unit performed:

Overall grade: F

In a season full of gut-wrenching losses, this one may have been the worst. Tampa Bay hit season highs in passing and rushing yards Sunday, and the Bucs defense held Mark Sanchez and company to 17 points. Oh, and speaking of Sanchez, he threw three interceptions, including a pick six.

The Eagles put up virtually no fight after halftime, and the game felt over pretty much as soon as the Bucs started their first drive of the second half (you know, the one that ate nearly ten minutes off the clock). The result was yet another sloppy loss full of self-inflicted wounds and uninspired coaching.

Offense: D

Earlier on Sunday, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that Mark Sanchez had a chance to win the Eagles' starting quarterback job with a string of strong performances. Odds are good that offer is now off the table. Sanchez finished the day 26-of-41 for 261 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. The silver lining? One of those picks went for a touchdown, so you could kind of say he threw three scores!

With the Eagles down early, there was no real chance to get the run game going. DeMarco Murray had a respectable 64 yards on 13 carries, and Kenjon Barner and Darren Sproles combined for 13 carries. Interestingly, in a week in which Sproles complained about a lack of touches, the understudy Barner ended up with more carries (7) than Sproles (6).

Defense: See me after class

There's not much to say about this performance. Calling it the defense's worst game of the season doesn't do enough justice to the absolute slopfest we saw Sunday afternoon. Jameis Winston looked like a Hall of Famer, Doug Martin ran for 235 yards, and the defense was able to completely stymie the Philadelphia offense.

The first overall pick in last year's NFL Draft completed 19 passes for 246 yards and five touchdowns. That ties a rookie record for most passing scores in a game. Maybe the most amazing thing about Wintson's day was that he threw five touchdowns on only 19 completions. That's basically one touchdown every four passes.

And the Eagles' normally stout rush defense had by far its worst performance of the year. In his last three games, Martin ran for a combined 165 yards. In this game, he picked up 70 more yards. Woof.

Special teams: C

Not much to report here. Donnie Jones had a couple nice punts, but it was an otherwise unmemorable day for the special teams. Huff had a couple questionable returns when he took the ball out of the end zone despite good coverage. And later in the game he and Riley Cooper had some miscommunication that resulted in Cooper fielding a return. At least Caleb Sturgis hit his only field goal attempt of the game - in the fourth quarter when the Eagles were already down 24.

Here's what we learned from the Philadelphia Eagles' loss to the Buccaneers.

The Philadelphia Eagles are now 4-6 on the 2015 NFL regular season schedule after being defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a final score of 45 to 17. Here are 10 things we learned from this awful game.

1) The

2) Philadelphia

3) Eagles

4) Are

5) Not

6) A

7) Very

8) Good

9) Football

10) Team

...

I was really tempted to end the post there. I don't have much else to say right now. (As I say before going on to write a lot more.) The Eagles are just a bad and boring football team.

The whole offense continues to be dreadful. The quarterbacks are bad. Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions in this loss after a promising drive early on. The offensive line isn't good. The run game isn't good. The wide receivers are awful. The tight ends aren't really doing much.

The only surprising thing about this game was that the defense struggled so much. They've been pretty solid for most of the season. Football Outsiders actually had them ranked as the No. 2 defense in the NFL coming into this game. But for some reason they got killed by Jameis Winston and Doug Martin.

Chip Kelly obviously deserves the blame for this mess. He's the general manager and the head coach, and he hasn't been great at either job ever since he got player personnel control early in 2015. I don't think the Eagles are going to fire him any time soon. I do think he gets a chance to fix this mess in the offseason and try to turn things around next season. I'm not sure he'll be able to, but I think he'll at least get the chance.

As for the rest of this season, it really can't be over soon enough. There are potentially six more games of this crap. If the Eagles continue to play like they have, it's going to be a huge waste of time.

And that's really a good way to sum up this Eagles season: a huge waste of time.

The Philadelphia Eagles were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field by a final score of 45 to 17. The Eagles dropped to 4-6 on the 2015 NFL regular season. Read on for a recap of the game. Up next for Philadelphia is an away game against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

The Philadelphia Eagles were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday by a final score of 45 to 17. The Eagles are now 4-6 on the 2015 NFL season.

The Eagles lost the coin toss but the Buccaneers elected to defer. Mark Sanchez took the field to decent applause from the Philly faithful. The Eagles ran the ball with DeMarco Murary on third down and he fumbled. But then the Buccaneers fumbled it for an Eagles recovery. Lucky break for the Eagles since it looked like the Buccaneers defender was down. The Eagles capitalized on their good fortune by putting a touchdown drive together. After rushing for a first down, Sanchez hit Josh Huff over the middle for a 39-yard score. Great run after the catch by Huff on the play.

Jameis Winston, who grew up an Eagles fan, received loud boos from Eagles fans as the Buccaneers offense first took the field. The Bucs moved the ball with some success before E.J. Biggers broke up a deep pass intended for Mike Evans and forced Tampa Bay to punt. Darren Sproles absolutely laid out Bobby Rainey on the punt return to make sure the Bucs couldn't down the ball.

The Eagles stopped the Bucs' second drive on 3rd-and-6. But then a Brandon Graham offside penalty made it 3rd-and-1 and Tampa Bay capitalized with a 58-yard run by Doug Martin. Very costly mistake by Graham. A few players later, Winston hit Evans on the fade route in the end zone for a game-tying touchdown. Great catch.

Philadelphia got the ball back but couldn't get anything going. Sanchez put the ball a little too far in front of a wide open Brent Celek on second down before sailing a pass over Zach Ertz's head on third down.

The Buccaneers put together another scoring drive by going 59 yards in five plays for the score. After some more Eagles offensive ineptitude, the Buccaneers put together another scoring drive sparked by an 84-yard Martin run. Malcolm Jenkins had a chance to prevent points by picking off a Winston pass but he dropped it. On the next play, Winston hit former Eagles receiver Russell Shepard for the touchdown.

The Eagles didn't give up. They answered back with a score of their own when Sanchez found Sproles on a screen pass for a 35-yard touchdown. It's almost like good things happen when Sproles touches the ball. Matt Tobin had a good block on the play.

But then the Bucs scored again. Philadelphia's defense couldn't get much of a pass rush and Winston had all day tom move Tampa Bay into scoring position. Connor Barwin had a chance to pick off Winston but he dropped the interception. Winston hit Charles Sims on an impressive pass for a touchdown on the next play. Byron Maxwell had a chance to make a play on the ball but didn't come up with it.

Sanchez ended the first half of this terrible game by throwing a ball into double coverage. To no surprise, it was intercepted.

The Buccaneers started with the ball on offense to start the second half. They went 80 yards to score a touchdown in a span of nine minutes and 47 seconds. It was Winston's fifth touchdown pass of the day. The Bucs scored a field goal early in the fourth quarter.

Sanchez threw another interception with 10 minutes left in the game. The Eagles replaced Jason Peters, who didn't appear to be hurt, with Lane Johnson at left tackle and Dennis Kelly at right tackle.

Caleb Sturgis absolutely NAILED a 43-yard attempt as the team was down 38-14 with 5:14 remaining in the game. Very useful.

Sanchez threw his third interception of the day and it was returned for a Buccaneers touchdown. Then the Bucs eventually ran out the clock.

Pathetic loss.

...

Stay tuned for much more Eagles-Buccaneers post-game coverage. I guess.
