LeSean McCoy has some minor swelling in his knee, but he should be fine moving forward.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy injured his knee in Sunday night's victory over the New York Giants, but head coach Andy Reid said that it is nothing more than a little tweak, according to NFL reporter Adam Caplan. Reid acknowledged that McCoy's knee is swelling up, but then reiterated that he is fine.

McCoy rushed for 123 yards on 23 carries Sunday night and added 17 yards on three receptions as well. McCoy has 384 yards and one touchdown on 81 rushing attempts through four games this season.

Luckily for Philadelphia, McCoy's injury is only minor and is unlikely to cause him to miss any games, as losing their start running back would be devastating to an Eagles offense in need of every point it can muster. Philadelphia is 3-1 on the season, but they have given themselves almost no room for error in each of their three wins. In those three victories, they won by a combined four points.

LeSean McCoy and the Eagles face the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday.

On the night Brian Dawkins had his #20 retired, the Eagles scored a heart stopping win over the New York Giants

The game was over... Lawrence Tynes had lined up for a 54 yard field goal and he missed it wide right. The game was over.

Only, it wasn't.

Andy Reid had called a timeout the moment before the kick in an attempt to "ice" the kicker. As I've written extensively before, icing the kicker is useless and doesn't work. In fact it has the opposite effect. So as Tynes lined up for his second crack at the game winning FG, the sense of foreboding was thick in the air at the Linc. And sure enough, Tynes hit this one dead on and it looked like it was about to split the uprights. But then...

It was short! The kick was short and this time the game really was over with the Eagles escaping with a 19-17 win. It just yet another nail biter between the Eagles and Giants... and yet another one that the Eagles won. Philadelphia has now taken 8 of the last 9 from New York with the last 3 coming in 4th quarter, heartbreaking fashion.

There was a lot to celebrate about this win but nothing more than this... The Eagles did not turn the ball over once. After a league leading 12 turnovers over the first 3 weeks, the Eagles finally played a clean game where they actually came out positive in the turnover battle. The driving force behind that was the same guy who was causing most of the turnovers, Michael Vick.

We really saw a different Michael Vick tonight, one that looked more like the 2010 version we all fell in love with than the 2012 version that had his covering our eyes with every throw. Vick was decisive with his throws, he didn't take unnecessary chances and he ran the ball! Not only did he run it, he did so effectively without taking big hits. Vick threw for 241 yards and a TD and ran for another 49 on 6 carries.

The first half of this game was a defensive struggle. The first points came with less than 2 minutes left in the half. Neither offense was moving. But in the second half, when things picked up, it was balance that drove the Eagles offensive success. Vick was very good, but LeSean McCoy started gouging the Giants with his signature cut back runs. After a frustrating first half where he managed just 2 total yards, Shady put up 121 in the second half.

The Eagles called 30 runs plays tonight and probably 35 pass plays. There's the balance we've been looking for.

This is the 3rd time this season that the Eagles have won a game with a 4th quarter drive. And its the second time they've done it against a team considered a Super Bowl contender.

The win leaves the Eagles at 3-1 and alone atop the NFC East, pending tomorrow night's game. The Giants, meanwhile, are 2-2 with both losses to NFC East teams. They've got more games to make up, but that's putting yourself behind the 8-ball.

The Eagles have announced that CB Nnamdi Asomugha has been taken to a local hospital after injuring his eye in the first half.

The injury happened on a play where Asomugha jammed Giants WR Ramses Barden and both players had their hands up high. Barden poked Asomugha in the eye and he immediately left the game. After being looked at for several minutes on the sideline he was taken into the locker room. Whatever they saw there is what prompted them to bring him to Wills eye hospital at halftime.

Obviously its safe to say that he won't return tonight, although officially he's listed as doubtful.

3rd year man Brandon Hughes has come into the game as a starter in place of Asomugha.

[Note by JasonB, 09/30/12 10:29 PM EDT ] Nnamdi Asomugha is now back on the Eagles sideline and has his helmet. So it appears as though he may return.

[Note by JasonB, 09/30/12 10:50 PM EDT ] Despite confirming that Nnamdi has been taken to the hospital, the Eagles are now saying he never left the stadium. He'll be coming back into the game. Odd.

The Eagles held a small ceremony to honor Brian Dawkins prior to tonight's game. The official jersey retirement will take place at halftime.

The Eagles will officially retire Brian Dawkins #20 tonight at halftime, but they held a smaller ceremony in the headhouse plaza at the Linc prior to the game. They revealed the #20 that has been installed on the wall (next to Reggie White's #92) and presented Dawk with a painting the team commissioned. Geoff Mosher tweeted out a pic of it.

Eagles owner Jeff Lurie opened the ceremony

It's been a long time since we put a number up on this wall, but a Brian Dawkins doesn't come along every day. Fearless as a player, fearless as a leader, and priceless as a husband, a father, a co-worker, and a friend. He is one of the very best the Eagles have ever had and we are proud to prove it by retiring his number 20 and inducting him into our Hall of Fame. Those are great names up there: [Steve] Van Buren, [Chuck] Bednarik, Reggie [White], but there was never any doubt that his name belonged right up there with them.

Brian puts his heart and soul into everything he does. And it's a big heart. And it's a big soul. And it's led to some big numbers: the second most games play by any Eagle ever, as many interceptions as any Eagle ever, seven Pro Bowls and five All-Pro selections as a Philadelphia Eagle, second only to Chuck Bednarik. But you know what Brian meant to this team and this city, it doesn't have a number on it. That part isn't going on the wall because that part is going in our hearts and the memories. Every one of us who saw him play, we remember he was the strong passionate heartbeat of our team. He symbolized everything Philadelphia stands for: the passion, the hard work, and the unstoppable spirit. He showed us all how this game ought to be played. When we look up there and in the stadium or the NovaCare Complex and see that number 20, it's going to remind all of us every day to give it our all for each other and for all the fans.

Dawkins kicked off his remarks with the same "hallelujah" he yelled when the team won the 2004 NFCCG.

"First of all, hallelujah! Listen, it is an absolute honor, blessing. [Owner/Chairman] Jeff [Lurie] thank you, Christina [Lurie] thank you. Thank you for this tremendous honor. See, I didn't grow up thinking about anything like this and I've said this a number of times, and I meant that. I didn't grow up thinking I was going to get my number retired somewhere. I just wanted to go out and do my best for whomever it is I got a chance to play for. And if my best was not good enough, then I had to put on another source of energy; that's my spiritual side, so that I could put my super on my natural and give you all some supernatural stuff. But listen, thank you very much for this. This is a tremendous honor. I will always be an Eagle in my heart and I will always, always look to represent this organization and you guys to the best of my abilities. Thank you very much."

When explaining what having #20 retired would mean to this team and organization, Lurie said it was simple.

"Every time we see that #20 in the NovaCare or the stadium, we'll know to give our all at everything we do," said Lurie.

With thousands of fans looking on, the Eagles officially retired Brian Dawkins #20 tonight before the kickoff of their game with the New York Giants.

Dawkins #20 now sits next to Reggie White in the Head House Plaza at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles also will ad Dawkins to their Hall of Fame.

Fans chanted Dawkins name and "Suit up!" as Dawkins addressed the crowd. One fan in the front row wore a half Eagles, half Broncos jersey in honor of Dawkins- and as a harsh reminder of how Dawkins time as an Eagle came to an end.

Here is video of Dawkins speaking to the fans at the ceremony. He is set to speak again at halftime of tonights game.
