Low-risk move.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former Oklahoma defensive tackle Charles Walker, according to a report from ESPN’s Field Yates. Walker became a free agent after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Walker didn’t play a full three years at Oklahoma because he left the season during the 2016 season in order to prepare for the NFL Draft. Also factoring in to the decision was that Walker suffered three concussions while playing for the Sooners. These factors likely scared off NFL teams from drafting him.

Walker measures in at 6-2, 310 pounds. In 21 games played, he logged 53 tackles (13 for loss), 6.5 sacks, five pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

The Eagles are set at starting defensive tackle with Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan but more depth at the position is needed. Jernigan and Beau Allen, who might not be ready by Week 1, are both free agents after the 2017 season. Philadelphia also drafted Elijah Qualls in the sixth round of this year’s draft. Destiny Vaeao will also have a shot to make the team’s roster after signing with Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent last year.

Walker ranked 13th out of this year’s top 15 defensive tackles as listed by BGN’s Ben Natan. Many projected him to be a sixth or seventh round pick. ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper said Walker could have been a first round pick if he didn’t leave Oklahoma early. Walker made BGN’s list of most underrated players in this year’s draft.

Charles Walker had a slightly tumultuous career with the Sooners, walking away from the team early due to injuries and hoping to preserve himself for the NFL draft. While some may question his dedication to the game, others will call that career sense. At 310 pounds, Walker not only has good size but is also explosive as well. He was up and down as a player, but his flashes were brilliant and tantalizing. It will be up to a team to take a chance on him despite consistency and injury history, but the payoff could be large.

Here’s more info from an NFL.com scouting report. Sounds like a pretty good fit for Jim Schwartz’s aggressive scheme. Walker seems like a nice low-risk gamble for the Eagles.

Sources Tell Us: "I'm not really a fan but I'm sure our coaches will be. He has talent but he's just so inconsistent. He has quickness and strength but then will just disappear during the game. He has enough flashes on tape that I'm sure our coach will want to work with that." - NFC regional scoutNFL Comparison Clinton McDonald

Bottom Line: Disruptive defensive tackle with the initial quickness and power to become a factor for a one-gapping, upfield front if he can ever put it all together. Despite his flashes, Walker's career starts can be counted on one hand and 2016 was a complete loss of a season. NFL personnel men are likely to get harsh reviews from the Sooners coaching staff and teams will need to do their work on Walker's concussion situation, but his athleticism and potential give him a chance to become an NFL starter.

An insider's perspective on one of the Eagles' undrafted rookie free agent signings following the 2017 NFL Draft: Wisconsin running back Corey Clement.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed undrafted rookie free agent Corey Clement shortly after the 2017 NFL Draft. In order to learn more about the new Eagles running back, I reached out to SB Nation's Wisconsin blog: Bucky’s 5th Quarter. Badgers writer Owen Riese (@RieseDraft) was kind enough to answer questions about Clement. For more Clement, check out the Q&A I did with B5Q.

1) Can you sum up what his college career was like?

His college career was a bit of a roller coaster. He started off encouragingly, 3rd string behind James White and Melvin Gordon, and then as a sophomore behind Gordon. Rushed for 949 as a backup. Junior year he was expected to take over per se, however due to a groin injury that nagged through camp eventually cost him most of his season. As a senior, however, he came back strong, and played in 13 games, rushing for 1,300 plus yards and 15 TDs.

2) What are his strengths?

He's a big back and runs that way. He definitely doesn't shy away from contact, he'll grind out every yard a rush has to offer. He also possesses very quick feet in the hole and cuts well for a man his size. Also has nice hands.

3) What are his weaknesses?

He lacks breakaway speed and is a bit stiff athletically. He's had fumble issues throughout his career. Not much of a creator. He'll get you what's blocked. Was taken off of the field on 3rd downs.

4) Are you surprised he went undrafted?

A bit, yes. I didn't expect anything before the 5th or 6th round, but I think he was a victim of the strong running back class and over 50 defensive backs being drafted.

5) How do you see his NFL career playing out?

I think he can settle in as a rotational back. In my opinion he can play a bit on 3rd down, but gave way to Dare Ogunbowale, who might end up as a 3rd down back for the Texans. He'll never be a starter, but could carve out a nice 5-7 year career as a reserve.

6) What’s your impression of him off the field? What was up with that incident where he punched someone?

Full disclosure, I've only interviewed him during the 2016 season, but all of my encounters with him have been very positive. He's spoken a bit about 2015, and how he was all about him, and being the next great Badger back, rather than being a great teammate. 2015 was very humbling for Corey, and he's regained the trust of Coach Chryst and his teammates. From my understanding, it was a bit of an ugly incident which involved Clement at his apartment complex. He apologIzed for the event, and was suspended for the final game of 2015 against Minnesota, Wisconsin's primary rivalry game. He hasn't had any issues since.

[UPDATE: 7:13 PM ET] Hey guys! I wanna thank you all for joining me over the last couple of days. It's been exhausting, but the NFL Draft has come to an end. Make sure to keep an eye on the BGN UDFA tracker for the latest signings and rumors!

[UPDATE: 6:13 PM ET] As much as I hate to say it, the Redskins and Cowboys have both had solid drafts...but there's still the Giants

[UPDATE: 5:35 PM ET] Had to step out for a moment but the Eagles have selected DT Elijah Qualls! A beefy tackle on defense!

[UPDATE: 3:58 PM ET] The Eagles will be converting Gerry to a LB.

[UPDATE: 3:49 PM ET] To end the 5th round, the Eagles will select Nathan Gerry, a safety from Nebraska! This is the Eagles' first defensive player taken today!

[UPDATE: 3:31 PM ET] The Eagles have one more pick in the 5th round! With two WRs and a HB, what direction would you like to see them go?

[UPDATE: 2:58 PM ET] The Eagles are on the clock and have selected Shelton Gibson out of WVU! Two Mountaineers for the Eagles after selecting Smallwood last year!

[UPDATE: 2:56 PM ET] The Eagles have traded back two spots with the Dolphins. They have traded picks 164 and 194 for 166 and 184. A little later, but Howie loves his trades!

[UPDATE: 2:27 PM ET] The Redskins have selected TE Jeremy Sprinkle, a TE. The Eagles have also traded back with the Titans to recoup a pick!

[UPDATE: 2:09 PM ET] The Broncos have selected Jake Butt, TE from Michigan! Should make for a ton of good jokes!

[UPDATE: 1:43 PM ET] Picks within the division today: Washington has selected HB Samaje Perrine and Safety Montae Nicholson, the Eagles have selected Mack Hollins and Donnel Pumphrey and the Cowboys have selected Ryan Switzer and the Giants are taking Wayne Gallman.

[UPDATE: 1:31 PM ET] The Cowboys have selected WR Ryan Switzer. Compared to Cole Beasley, who the Eagles struggled to cover. That should be fun. I haven't had a chance to watch Corn Elder, but I've heard he is a nasty slot corner. Hopefully he'll still be available when the Eagles are on the clock again.

[UPDATE: 1:25 PM ET] The Eagles will be picking Donnel Pumphrey. Smaller running back that has drawn Sproles comparisons, but weighed in at 169 lbs I do believe.

[UPDATE: 1:21 PM ET] The Eagles have traded up! They will select at 132!!!

[UPDATE: 12:54 PM ET] Dave Zangaro reports that Hollins is one of the receivers Went worked out with this offseason. Interesting!

[UPDATE: 12:44 PM ET] The Eagles have selected UNC WR Mack Hollins. 6'4 and supposedly a really good special teams player. Limited to seven games last year due to a broken collarbone.

[UPDATE: 12:25 AM ET] A few interesting talents off the board. Dede Westbrook and Jaleel Johnson! Somewhere John Barchard is weeping over Johnson

[UPDATE: 11:34 AM ET] Hey guys! It's @tjack94 here with you for the third straight day! The Eagles have needs on offense to address so hopefully they choose to do so today!
