Eagles open as favorites against Bucs in Wild Card playoff game

Somehow the Eagles are still expected to win on the road in the first round of the playoffs.

The Eagles have looked far from decent over the past seven weeks, and yet they are still considered -2.5 favorites to beat the Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Making the odds even more surprising, is the fact that the Eagles had a few injuries during their Week 18 season finale against the Giants, including A.J. Brown suffering a knee injury and Jalen Hurts injuring his finger.

Still, Baker Mayfield and the Bucs haven’t done a whole lot this season to instill any kind of confidence that their squad would be able to best the Eagles, even at home. Tampa Bay secured the NFC South on Sunday in a 9-0 win over the Panthers, which still only put them at 9-8 on the season.

The Eagles are familiar with Tampa Bay in the wild card round of the playoffs, with Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts losing to Tom Brady in 2021 — but, that was Tom Brady’s team, not Baker Mayfield’s.

Having to watch another week of this Eagles team seems like a punishment to fans after what started out as a promising 10-1 season. We should know early on if the team is able to put any kind of performance together that doesn’t make you want to claw your eyes out. (Fingers crossed.)
