Week 18 of the 2023 NFL regular season is here. To accompany your viewing experience, let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the games.
HOW THE EAGLES CAN STILL WIN THE NFC EAST
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at NEW YORK GIANTS: For the Eagles to have a chance at clinching the No. 2 seed, they must beat the Giants. And then they need help from Washington. Go Birds.
DALLAS COWBOYS at WASHINGTON COMMANDERS: With an Eagles win and a Cowboys loss (or tie), the Birds clinch the NFC East. That result would also serve to damage Washington’s draft position; the Commanders are currently set to pick No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. There’s zero chance the Commanders actually win this game. Root for the Commanders.
POTENTIAL EAGLES PLAYOFF OPPONENT
ATLANTA FALCONS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Assuming the Eagles get the No. 5 seed, the Falcons are arguably the most beatable opponent for them. The Falcons will clinch the NFC South with a win over the Saints and a Bucs loss. As an added bonus, the Falcons winning prevents the Saints 2024 second-round pick owed to Philly from getting less favorable for the Eagles. Root for the Falcons.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: The Bucs are better than the Falcons. The silver lining to the Bucs winning is that it prevents the Saints pick owed to the Eagles from getting worse. Root for the Panthers.
NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE SEEDING
LOS ANGELES RAMS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: If you’re resigned to the Cowboys being the No. 2 seed, you should want Carson Wentz’s Rams to lose and drop to the No. 7 seed to potentially take Dallas out in the wild card round.
