Mike McCarthy will be back with the Cowboys in 2024

Great news!

While we’ve yet to hear definitive word on whether Nick Sirianni will be back with the Philadelphia Eagles or not in 2024, there is official head coaching news elsewhere in the NFC East.

The Dallas Cowboys will NOT be parting ways with Mike McCarthy despite the team’s incredibly embarrassing Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers.

This is ultimately good news for the Eagles.

Yes, McCarthy has overseen a Cowboys team that has won the second-most regular season games over the past three years. And he’s 3-5 in games against the Eagles.

But not unlike the case with his quarterback, Dak Prescott, you can set your watch to McCarthy coming up small in the playoffs.

McCarthy is the only head coach to ever lose to a No. 7 seed. He is the head coach of the only team to lose a home wild card game for the second time in three seasons. He is the head coach of the only team to ever win at least 12 games in three consecutive seasons without appearing in a single conference championship game.

Until the Cowboys actually break through for once, there’s every reason to bet against McCarthy being the guy to help them do it.

As it currently stands, McCarthy will be entering 2024 in the final year of his deal. We’ll see how the added pressure impacts him and the team, if at all.

Cowboys fans did NOT want to see McCarthy back for the upcoming season. The following poll results come from Blogging The Boys:

They will not be getting their wish.

We’ll see if the Eagles join the Cowboys in bringing back a head coach not popular with fans at the moment.
