The Eagles need to get back in the win column after losing big at home to the 49ers. Getting that next win will be no easy going though as they travel to take on a hot Cowboys team. Beating the Cowboys would keep the Eagles in poll position for the division and the top seed in the conference. Needless to say, it is a must-win game. Beating Dallas will be a full team effort and here are how some rookies can contribute in this rivalry game.
Need Jalen Carter to be disruptive.
Jalen Carter was slowed against the 49ers last week and that lack of interior pressure allowed San Francisco to pass and run the ball with ease. The Cowboys offense is deadly in its own way and Dak Prescott will be dropping back to pass a lot. Creating big plays against the Dallas passing game will be crucial. It will be hard to outright stop them, but getting sacks and forcing bad throws could be the difference in what should be a high-scoring game. Jalen Carter needs to be back to form against a very good Dallas offensive line. He catalyzes so much up front for the Eagles and this is a game where they will need him playing his best ball.
How will the Eagles use their rookie defensive backs in this game?
The last time the Eagles and Cowboys played, Eli Ricks struggled to contain CeeDee Lamb in the slot. Now, most players have struggled to slow lamb this year, but Ricks made some egregious mistakes and committed penalties at bad times. The Eagles are rotating the nickel backs, using Ricks and Sydney Brown in the slot while also letting veteran Bradley Roby play as well. Ricks has struggled mightily the last few weeks after showing some promise in the early season. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles deploy these rookie defenders against a seasoned and dangerous Dallas passing game.
