Happy New Years Eve Bleeding Green Nation!

The Philadelphia Eagles (11-4) are finally back in the 1:00 PM timeslot for their Week 17 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals (3-12).

There are certainly postseason implications on the line for the Eagles, who really need to win out to try and secure top seeding, but the Cardinals are almost assuredly playing to simply upset Philly’s chances. Former DC Jonathan Gannon will make his much-anticipated return to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, likely to a chorus of boos.

The Eagles finally broke their three-game losing streak last week against the Giants, yet despite putting up over 500 yards of total offense, they were just as frustrating to watch as they were in the weeks prior — really, all 15 weeks prior if we’re being honest.

Head coach Nick Sirianni admitted that his tense demeanor on the sideline was likely impacting the team, and talked this week about the importance of having fun. Darius Slay said a couple weeks back that the Eagles weren’t having the same type of fun the Cowboys were seen playing with in Week 15, but Sirianni disagreed with the sentiment at the time. Whatever it is, the mood in Philly hasn’t been vibing the way you’d expect from a team that’s 11-4 and has already clinched a playoff spot.

These final two weeks are going to be important for the Eagles, and not just for seeding purposes, but to really find their stride and to get to the postseason with some kind of momentum. There hasn’t been a whole lot to celebrate the past month or so, but there’s still time for things to turn around and for this insanely talented team to be playing into late-January and February.

But first, they’ll need to find a way to make Jonathan Gannon dread coming back to Philly — something you’d assume is on the mind of Sirianni and the Eagles front office.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.

The Cardinals actually lead the all-time series between these teams, 58-56-2, but the Eagles have won two of their three most recent meetings. They last faced off back in October 2022, with Philly winning in Arizona, 20-17. They’ve also met three times in the postseason, with the Cardinals leading that series as well, 2-1 — the last time they played each other in the playoffs was in 2009 for the NFC Championship game.
