The Philadelphia Eagles might be best served to flush their embarrassing home loss to the San Francisco 49ers and immediately turn their focus to preparing for a big Week 14 road game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Despite losing so badly in Week 13, the Eagles are standard three-point road underdogs to the Cowboys. This much according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
I fully expect that line to move in the Cowboys’ favor. But we’ll see.
Beating Dallas sure won’t be easy. It wasn’t when the Eagles came entirely too close to blowing an 11-point lead at home in Week 9.
Since that loss, the Cowboys are 4-0 with wins over the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, and Seattle Seahawks. They blew out the first three teams before pulling off a comeback win against Pete Carroll and Geno Smith on Thursday Night Football.
On that note, the Eagles’ next game marks the third straight week where their opponent has had a rest advantage over them. The Eagles played the Buffalo Bills coming off Monday Night Football. The Eagles played the 49ers with San Francisco coming off a Thursday mini-bye. And now it’ll be the Cowboys who get a mini-bye before hosting Philly. (Thanks a lot, schedule makers.)
The Eagles will be looking to snap the longest active home game winning streak in the NFL with Dallas having won 14 straight at AT&T Stadium. The last time the Eagles won in that building? You have to go all the way back to their Super Bowl season in 2017.
I’m not ready to say the Eagles are hopeless just because they lost badly to the 49ers. The Cowboys lost by an even worse margin to the same team earlier this year. Not to mention I had the Eagles going 9-3 in their first 12 games and they’re 10-2.
But, let’s be real, this is a tough spot for Philly. Are they really about to sweep Dallas for the first time in 12 years?
