Jalen Hurts injury: Eagles quarterback returns after being evaluated for concussion

As the third quarter ended in the Eagles-49ers game, quarterback Jalen Hurts spent some time in the blue medical tent on the sideline before jogging back to the locker room. It was reported shortly thereafter that Hurts was being evaluated for a concussion, but thankfully was able to return to the game with eight minutes left.

Marcus Mariota was seen warming up with Jason Kelce as Hurts was still in the medical tent, and took the field for the Eagles first drive of the fourth quarter for a quick three-and-out.

Before leaving the game, Hurts was 17-of-29 for 196 yards and had a rushing touchdown. The QB also took two sacks — even though one was self-inflicted — for a 24-yard total loss.

The first quarter against the Niners showed potential, but Hurts and the Eagles failed to score on two redzone attempts, and had to settle for field goals. They didn’t get any points in the second quarter and only had the one TD off a quarterback sneak in the third quarter.

There have been very few players this season to suffer a concussion and then play the next week, so it’s good news that Hurts was able to be cleared to return, especially facing the Cowboys in Week 14.
