Last week, I felt extremely confident about what to expect from the Eagles.
This week, I feel extremely unsure about what to expect from the Eagles.
Despite two bad losses, I was willing to give this team the benefit of the doubt.
But the way they’ve reacted to those losses is not very encouraging.
I’m not going to sit here and say Sean Desai was awesome. But the idea that the defense can’t get worse is wrong!
Matt Patricia has overseen some truly awful defenses, including the one that Nick Foles destroyed in Super Bowl LII.
Let’s be real. If the Cowboys found themselves in a similar situation right now, we’d all be laughing at them. I can’t help but feel like people talking themselves into Patricia is a big time cope.
I’m not saying it can’t work out. It’s quite possible we’ll see defensive improvement since there is room to go up.
But it’s also possible it’s going to happen merely because the Eagles are facing worse quarterbacks and offenses than they were under Desai.
Patricia’s promotion is just one contributing factor to a bad vibes Eagles team right now. There’s also Jalen Hurts being so sick that he was downgraded to questionable and had to travel to the game separately. There’s also Darius Slay and Zach Cunningham and Cam Jurgens being out.
It just doesn’t feel like prime conditions for a “get right” game.
Then again, the Eagles are very likely taking on a backup quarterback in Drew Lock. And for all the complaints about the offense, they did move the ball well last week. They might be able to do it again against a leaky Seahawks defense.
The NFL can be wacky and it would only be fitting that the Eagles finally play their best football when everyone is not really counting on them to do that.
So, screw it, the Eagles are winning this one on a Kelee Ringo pick-six.
Will the Eagles beat the Seahawks?
