Jalen Hurts downgraded to questionable for Eagles-Seahawks game

Discomforting news.

Jalen Hurts has been downgraded to questionable for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 15 Monday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Hurts was added to the Eagles’ injury report on Saturday after missing practice due to illness. He was listed without a game status, though, which indicated he wasn’t in jeopardy of missing the start.

Hurts’ sickness has since worsened, however. Schefter reports that Hurts “still is harboring hopes of playing Monday night, and is traveling to Seattle separately from the team so as to try not get anyone else sick.”

It’s pretty rare for a player to miss a game due to illness (except for the COVID seasons) but we don’t know exactly what Hurts is dealing with. The guess here is that he toughs it out.

If Hurts can’t go, it’ll be Marcus Mariota starting for the Eagles. And it might be the backup bowl since there’s reportedly a “real chance” that Drew Lock will be starting in place of Geno Smith for the Seahawks.

“Mariota vs. Lock” is certainly not what the NFL had in mind for the first-ever game flexed into Monday Night Football.
