It’s a good thing the Eagles’ game was moved to Monday night, because Jalen Hurts might need that extra day after missing Saturday’s practice due to an illness. The good news is, reports indicate that Hurts is still expected to play in their Week 15 matchup against the Seahawks, but Marcus Mariota stepped into the QB1 spot for the team’s last practice before heading to Seattle.
Darius Slay is another captain sidelined, and after missing practice early in the week, head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed reports that the CB had arthroscopic knee surgery this week to clean some things up and will miss Monday night’s game. Slay isn’t expected to go on IR, however, and should be back before the end of the season.
Sirianni was very tight-lipped about the situation, only confirming earlier reports, but acknowledged they learned about the surgery early enough to have a full week of preparation without him, and that they have the right guys in place to fill that void. He wouldn’t say if those right guys were Kelee Ringo or Josh Jobe, and just reiterated that they’ve got the right guys.
Obviously, any injury news is less than ideal, particularly coming off the poor performances they’ve had the past two weeks, but hopefully Hurts can get better quickly and Slay having clean-up surgery now will help him further down the stretch.
