Third time’s a charm?!

After failing to officially clinch a playoff spot in Week 13 and Week 14, the Philadelphia Eagles will try again.

Unlike the past two weeks, however, the Birds don’t necessarily need to win (or tie) to get in. It’s possible they’ll clinch before they even play on Monday night.

Entering Week 15, there are nine different ways the Eagles can officially clinch.

Here are the relevant games:

Minnesota Vikings at Cincinnati Bengals (-3) [Saturday 1:00 PM ET]

Denver Broncos at Detroit Lions (-4) [Saturday 8:15 PM ET]

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Green Bay Packers (-3.5) [1:00 PM ET]

Atlanta Falcons (-3) at Carolina Panthers [1:00 PM ET]

Washington Commanders at Los Angeles Rams (-6.5) [4:05 PM ET]

San Francisco 49ers (-12.5) at Arizona Cardinals [4:25 PM ET]

Philadelphia Eagles (-4) at Seattle Seahawks [Monday Night Football]

And here are the nine scenarios:

1) Eagles win or tie

2) Packers loss AND Falcons loss or tie AND Rams loss or tie

3) Packers loss AND Falcons loss or tie AND 49ers win or tie AND Lions win

4) Buccaneers loss AND Vikings loss or tie AND Rams loss or tie

5) Buccaneers loss AND Packers loss or tie AND 49ers win or tie AND Lions win

6) Vikings loss or tie AND Falcons loss or tie AND Rams loss or tie

7) Vikings loss or tie AND Falcons loss or tie AND 49ers win or tie AND Lions win

8) Packers-Buccaneers tie AND Rams loss or tie

9) Packers-Buccaneers tie AND 49ers win or tie AND Lions win

...

Now, the Eagles don’t really want to see the Falcons or Bucs lose. Those results help the Saints stay alive for the NFC South crown and Philly owns New Orleans’ 2024 second-round pick. The Eagles also don’t want to see the 49ers win as it relates to keeping the No. 1 seed in play. They also don’t want to see the Lions win.

So, the Eagles won’t really be rooting for any of these scenarios to unfold. Besides, it would feel better to directly earn the clinch as opposed to getting help from other teams losing.

But, hey, we’ll still be monitoring these situations in case they happen.
