The Eagles won another thriller to improve to 10-1 on the season. They are slogging through the hardest schedule in the NFL right now and coming out winners. The cool part is they are team wins with big plays coming in all three phases.
Jalen Carter: A
Jalen Carter played his best game in a few weeks and it could not have come in a bigger game. Carter was relied on as a three down defender and even played snaps out on the edge. While pass rush proved difficult for the whole defensive line, with Josh Allen’s evasiveness making him hard to pressure, Carter played some truly excellent run defense the whole game. Crucially, Jalen Carter also blocked a field goal that proved to be the difference in this game. He timed a jump perfectly and got his hand up to deny the Bills three points. What a special game by the rookie defender.
Sydney Brown: B
Sydney Brown played another really solid game as a rotational defensive back. He didn’t make any big plays but he also didn’t make any big mistakes. Notably, Brown had two great tackles on punt coverage.
Eli Ricks: B
Like Brown, I thought Eli Ricks had a solid game playing inside as a slot defender. He saw less playing time than he has been seeing, mostly because Bradley Roby is back in the line up, but he managed to avoid giving up big plays.
- Nolan Smith continues to barely factor in these games. One wonders if the defense would benefit from him playing more off-ball if the injury to Zach Cunningham is serious.
- Keele Ringo remains a special teams mainstay.
- Tyler Steen was out of the offensive lineup with the Eagles opting to put Jack Driscoll in at right tackle with Lane Johnson hurt. It makes sense given Steen’s lack of playing time at right tackle as a pro.
