Despite holding at least a two-game lead on literally every other team in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles are home UNDERDOGS in Week 13.
The San Francisco 49ers opened as two-point road favorites against the Birds, according to our friends over at DraftKings Sportsbook.
The line has since moved in different directions. I saw it drop to the 49ers only being favored by one point last night. But then it moved to 49ers -1.5 this morning and it’s currently sitting at 49ers -2.5 as I type this article.
On one hand, I get it. The 49ers have rediscovered their groove with three straight decisive wins to break a three-game losing streak. San Fran ranks second in point differential (+140) whereas Philly ranks seventh (+64). The Niners rank second in DVOA while the Eagles are 10th.
The 49ers have a rest advantage working for them since they last played on Thanksgiving. They’re also going to be incredibly motivated to avenge their blowout loss in last season’s NFC Championship Game where starter Brock Purdy and backup Josh Johnson got hurt.
That said, one would be remiss to count out an Eagles team that simply finds ways to win even if they get outplayed. You can bet your ass Nick Sirianni is going to play up the underdog angle internally. Not to mention reminding the players about all the trash that the 49ers talked after losing to the Birds in January.
On that note, are the Eagles really going to allow the 49ers to come into their house and easily win after being so disrespectful?
Betting against the Eagles at this point feels silly; they’ve more than earned the benefit of the doubt.
