The Eagles had a very impressive secondary performance on Sunday against Tyreek Hill, but it’s no secret that Howie Roseman has been looking to add some depth, specifically at safety. The GM did just that on Monday, completing a deal with the Titans to send their All Pro safety, Kevin Byard, back home to Philly.
Head coach Nick Sirianni credited DC Sean Desai for doing a really good job of tailoring the defense to the personnel on the roster, and Byard is going to add another weapon to a very physical group. The seven-year veteran will add some experience and depth at the safety position, which should help the very young, but very talented group that’s been rotating this season.
Byard will reunite with former teammate A.J. Brown, who was immediately excited about the news.

The Eagles definitely won the trade to bring Brown to Philly in 2022, and it seems likely that they’ll win the Byard trade too.

Byard, 30, is a two-time All-Pro. He's never missed a game in his career. He has a base salary of $4M this year.

The #Titans paid Kevin Byard $7 million of his $11M compensation for 2023 in a signing bonus as part of a revised deal back in July. So, not much cash involved in the transaction for the #Eagles, who add a two-time first-team All-Pro.

The Kevin Byard trade by the Titans leads naturally to this question: is Tennessee planning to offload other veterans too?
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) October 23, 2023
If so, the most prominent name most would wonder about is Derrick Henry.
He's in the final year of his contract and owed $6.4M for the balance of the…
Kevin Byard will go down as one of best defenders to wear Titans uniform. “The Mayor” was heart & soul of Titans.

Titans GM Ran Carthon has a lot of respect for Byard — sent him home to a contender reuniting him with AJ Brown. TENN plan is get younger, build for brighter future. pic.twitter.com/zPogFYuC9e

It's nice to have a feeder system that develops prospects as well as Tennessee does for Philadelphia. https://t.co/MtcX4MOydK

Remember when Deion Sanders didn’t know who Kevin Byard was after he made All Pro

The Titans should block Howie's number.

He lists his favorite food as cheesesteaks. He lists his favorite athlete as a kid as Allen Iverson. (We have those two things in common already...)
But also, I really hate to see Kevin Byard go. Long-time stud for the team.
