It’s the end of Week 2 and the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Minnesota Vikings for their 2022 home opener on Monday Night Football.
The Eagles offense started slow last week against the Lions, but then the passing game exploded in the first half with the Jalen Hurts to A.J. Brown connection, and by the end of the game, all three of the team’s running backs — Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Kenny Gainwell — had scored a touchdown.
Philadelphia’s run defense showed some weaknesses, particularly against D’Andre Swift who finished the day with 15 carries for 144 yards and a touchdown. Neither head coach Nick Sirianni nor defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon have since committed to using rookie Jordan Davis more to help with the ground game — you know, because he’s gigantic — and both instead emphasized rotating up front for schematic reasons and to keep guys fresh. Gannon admitted his guys were a little gassed at the end of the Detroit game with back-to-back long drives.
