My Off-the Rack (No Trades) Mock 1.0 from TDN

I don’t often post my mock drafts here, mostly because I think that no one would be interested in them…lol. But I decided that if I was going to give my opinion on other people’s mocks, they should be afforded the opportunity to do the same to mine.

I used the Mock Draft Machine on The Draft Network and decided to do my first mock with no trades. Interestingly, TDN gives the Eagles a 2nd 6th-round pick for some reason. It is pick number 205 and as far as I know we don’t have that pick. I could be wrong…

My goal in this draft was to upgrade our aging defense and fill a few needs on offense the best I could with 10 (or 11 picks). Also, this draft is predicated on the idea of the team signing one of the big free agent receivers- Mike Williams, Allen Robinson, or DJ Chark, and a serviceable safety.

One thing I was reminded of is it is easier said than done to have the perfect draft when you are picking against 31 other teams. So kudos to everyone that gives it a shot!

Let me know what you think, and please…be kind.

15. Ahmad Gardner, CB- Cincinnati
In my opinion, the best corner in the draft after Stingley (slightly). He should slide right in opposite of Slay and give us our best set of corners since Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown.

16. Jermaine Johnson, Edge- Florida State
Originally projected in the later 20’s, his stock is rising due to being a monster during Senior Bowl week. The dude is a beast and would have immediate impact in the edge rotation. I think this is a good spot for him.

19. Jaquan Brisker, S – Penn State
As complete a safety prospect as there is. He is plug and play with a player comp to Malcolm Jenkins.

51. Phidarian Mathis, DL - Alabama
A versatile defensive lineman with the athleticism to line up anywhere along the DLine. He can rush the passer from the DT spot and stop the run. Had 8 sacks, 7 TFL and 76 tackles this past year for Alabama. Has the potential to make the transition from Fletcher Cox a smooth one.

83. Quay Walker, LB – Georgia
Walker is very underrated in a strong LB class. He is a big, athletic, hard-hitting linebacker who can play the run, provide pass coverage, or play on the line and rush the QB. His player comp is Jamie Collins.

120. Alec Lindstrom, C – Boston College
Another of the Lindstrom brothers, Alec can be the heir apparent to the center spot after starting out as Jason Kelce’s understudy.

152. DeAngelo Malone, Edge – Western Kentucky
More D-Line!!! Uber-productive player his entire college career including 32.5 sacks for Western Kentucky. Should make the team and play a rotational role to begin with.

160. Cole Turner, TE – Nevada
A pass catching TE2 is a sneaky need for us, and Turner is perfect for it. He had over 1200 yards and 17 touchdowns over the last 2 years for Nevada. More of a Zack Ertz-type player than a Dallas Goedert.

164. Jerome Ford, RB – Cincinnati
The new thunder back to replace Jordan Howard. But Ford brings a little more to the table as far as speed and moves. Had over 1,200 yards and NINETEEN TDs for the Bearcats in 2021.

193. Charleston Rambo, WR -Miami
He consistently falls this late in all of the simulators. But he seems to have raised his stock this week at the Senior Bowl. But for now I’m leaving him here. He’s too exciting to not take a shot on.

Not sure we have this pick, but I had to make it so…

205. Jack Jones, CB – Arizona State – Highly regarded and underrated CB. He’s a bit undersized at 5’ 10", 175, but is a sticky cover guy who doesn’t back away from contact. He can play outside or in the slot. Also projected as a core special teamer.
