More OL depth.

The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t temporarily elevate any of their practice squad players for their first two games but they’ve chosen to do so ahead of their Week 3 Monday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles officially announced they elevated second-year guard Sua Opeta to the active roster. Opeta is one of four practice squad players the Eagles used a protection on earlier this week.

Opeta’s elevation comes in the wake of the Eagles placing starting right guard Brandon Brooks on injured reserve. The team clearly felt a need for more offensive line depth.

Landon Dickerson will make his first NFL start at right guard in place of Brooks. Nate Herbig figures to be the top backup guard, though Opeta provides another option. Other depth options include Brett Toth (has mostly played at tackle but took some guard reps in the summer) and Jack Anderson (recently signed off the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad).

Opeta will return to the practice squad following Monday’s game.
