Jalen Hurts has the second-best-selling NFL jersey after the Eagles’ Week 1 win

It’s been a good week for Hurts.

The Jalen Hurts bandwagon is getting mighty crowded after his great Week 1 performance down in Atlanta. The midnight green No. 1 Hurts jersey is second on Fanatics’ best-selling NFL jerseys list, per ESPN’s Tim McManus, with a 500 percent increase in sales. Hurts is only behind another Alabama quarterback, the Patriots’ Mac Jones.

A 500 percent jump is WILD, which is probably fairly similar to the rate that Eagles fans are increasingly optimistic about this season.

It wasn’t that long ago that Eagles fans couldn’t find a new No. 1 Hurts jersey at the pro shop down by Lincoln Financial Field. The organization left him out of many offseason promotional materials as rumors circled that the team was interested in acquiring other quarterbacks. Those Hurts jerseys will be flying off the racks everywhere in the Philly area now and the demand is clearly huge online too.

Back in April, Hurts switched his jersey number to No. 1 after he wore No. 2 as a rookie. Hurts wore No. 2 during his time at Alabama, but then switched to No. 1 after he transferred to Oklahoma. With punter Cameron Johnston no longer here, No. 1 was freed up for Hurts. They say, “If you look good, you play good.” Both things are true of Hurts right now.

I was one of the people who grabbed a heavily discounted midnight green Hurts No. 2 jersey after he switched to his current number. I remember the excitement of his rookie year fondly and enjoy the hipster factor of having his OG number. If Hurts keeps playing like he did against the Falcons though, I may need to spring for a black or white No. 1 Hurts jersey to round out my wardrobe.
