It’s here! It’s really here!
The Philadelphia Eagles are on the road to start the 2021 NFL season, and will take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 on Sunday afternoon.
This will be the first time we’ll have a chance to see Nick Sirianni play call a regular season game. The first time we’ll see Jalen Hurts throw to DeVonta Smith during a game. And, the first time we’ll see a majority of the starting defensive line for more than just a few snaps. There are a lot of first for this young Eagles team, and that’s just how Sirianni wanted things heading into the season. The head coach often talked about a lack of film and known scheme as part of the team’s competitive advantage — it’s why he didn’t play many starters or reveal too much during the preseason.
Sirianni spoke about how they aren’t the only ones with an advantage this week, as the Falcons have plenty of new faces among the coaching staff. He spoke about Atlanta’s defensive coordinator Dean Pees specifically, and pointed to at least some familiarity with what Pees has done with his defenses in the past — and they are sure to expect plenty of blitzes, but also know to expect the unexpected.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.

Odds
The Eagles start the year as underdogs on the road, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
Philadelphia Eagles +3.5 (+160)
Atlanta Falcons -3.5 (-190)
Over/under: 48.5
History Lesson
The Eagles lead the all-time series between these teams, 17-14-1, and while the Eagles have won 2 of the past 3 contests, the Falcons most recently came away with a home win in 2019, 24-20. Both teams will look a whole lot different in 2021, however, so that game two years ago isn’t really a benchmark for what could happen this Sunday.
