Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

He ‘didn’t deserve to die this way,’ says family of the 22-year-old killed outside Pat’s Steaks - Inquirer
While initial reports indicated the argument that led to the shooting was over football and an Eagles-Giants rivalry, a spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office said witnesses told investigators the fight was over a parking space. Tommy Francano, Pat’s general manager, said a squabble over parking was just as senseless. “There were a lot of rumors out there, everybody has a different story,” he said. “So it was over a parking spot. That’s crazy. It’s a horrible thing.”

Cre’Von LeBlanc won’t be back with the Eagles - BGN
It’s a shame to see Strap won’t be back from the perspective that he was a fun underdog to root for. He came out of nowhere to give the Eagles some nice production after they claimed him off waivers during the 2018 season. Remember when he picked off Drew Brees on the first play of scrimmage during the Eagles’ divisional round playoff game against the Saints? That was fun.

Miami Dolphins sign cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc to one-year deal - The Phinsider
But one thing is for certain, with or without Howard, the Dolphins can never have too many corners. And for a guy like LeBlanc, who has experience starting in the league, maybe he is the type of guy that can give Miami some added reassurance. But based on everything I’ve seen from watching the Eagles defense over the years, is that NO ONE should expect Cre’von LeBlanc to fill the void left behind by Xavien Howard.

Eagles mailbag: Should Eagles pursue Deshaun Watson or wait? - NBCSP
Here’s what we do know: Watson is an elite quarterback and there aren’t many elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Really, how many are there? Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and … Watson. You could argue that Josh Allen is in that group, but let’s see him do it for a second season. Watson is a 25-year-old, three-time Pro Bowler coming off his best NFL season and entering the prime of what might be a Hall of Fame career. He’s obviously more expensive than Hurts and it would take a ton to get him. There aren’t many sure things in the NFL. Here’s what I’m sure of: Watson is a great football player and the Eagles even in their wildest dreams probably can’t envision Hurts becoming as good as him. For a team that values the position like the Eagles, getting an elite quarterback is a huge deal. I get your point about wanting to find out what Hurts is and this isn’t a knock on Hurts at all: But I think the Eagles would be crazy if they didn’t at least show some interest in Watson.

State of the NFC East: A look at the 2021 Philadelphia Eagles - Blogging The Boys
Either way, it seems as if the Eagles are prepared to look very bad in 2020 in the interest of building up another championship team in the City of Brotherly Love. Despite all his detractors, Roseman has done it once, and very recently; now he’s trying to do it again. Whether he can pull it off remains to be seen, but the short-term outlook isn’t very good, which will be music to Cowboys fans’ ears.

From Philly to Tokyo: Perry Baker Goes From Eagles’ Prospect to Rugby Star - NBC Philadelphia
Baker went undrafted, but was signed by the Eagles. His NFL career was cut short before he had a chance to fly due to a knee injury, his Team USA profile says.

Three reasons why Cowboys could be legit Super Bowl contenders; top five off-ball linebackers - NFL.com
But after watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers snap a 12-season playoff drought — with nine of those campaigns resulting in a losing record — and win the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy, I believe there is indeed a path for Dallas to make a run at the ring this season. Now, the odds are pretty long, and things must fall into place quickly for the Cowboys to surge to the top of the charts. But it can be done in a league that routinely sees underachievers reverse their fortunes in a hurry. With that in mind, here are three reasons why the Cowboys could emerge as legit Super Bowl contenders.

Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams make “Last Dance” posts on Instagram - Acme Packing Company
Davante Adams has thoughts on his situation with the Green Bay Packers and wants the world to know it. On Friday, after news broke that the All-Pro receiver is no longer having conversations with the Packers regarding a contract extension, the four-time Pro Bowler made a post on Instagram that seems to allude to ESPN’s The Last Dance documentary. Soon after, quarterback Aaron Rodgers joined in by posting the same photo.

Sports books reportedly brace for an Aaron Rodgers retirement - PFT
Las Vegas usually knows what’s going on. On Aaron Rodgers, Las Vegas reportedly thinks it knows what he’ll be doing next week. Via Bill Huber of SI.com, multiple sports books believe Rodgers will announce his retirement before Wednesday’s initial practice of training camp. NFL to carry over flexible roster rules for 2021 season - ESPN
The NFL will carry over a series of 2020 roster rules designed to maintain adequate numbers if players are sidelined by positive COVID-19 tests. The decision had been long anticipated but was confirmed during a media briefing Friday by Dawn Aponte, the NFL’s chief football administrative officer. The rules include: Expansion of practice squads to 16 players, including up to six who have more than two accrued seasons. The ability to protect up to four practice squad players per week from being signed by other teams.
