Eagles won’t be losing scouting department member to Panthers

The Philadelphia Eagles won’t be losing Ian Cunningham to the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina reportedly requested an interview with Philadelphia’s assistant director of player personnel for their assistant general manager opening earlier this week. The Panthers are instead hiring Buffalo Bills director of player personnel Dan Morgan for the job. (It might not have hurt Morgan’s chance that he was once Carolina’s No. 11 overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.)

One would imagine the Eagles are happy to be retaining Cunningham. The team thinks highly of him, as evidenced by Jeffrey Lurie referring to Cunningham as one of “about five people in our organization that right now I could project that will be general managers in this league.”

If you’re among the crowd that believes the Eagles fared well in the 2021 NFL Draft, you’ll also be pleased to see their scouting department will remain intact. For now, at least.
