NFL: NFL Draft Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Throughout this week, we’ve asked you BGN readers to grade all four NFC East classes from the 2021 NFL Draft. Here are the final results.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

NEW YORK GIANTS

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM

DALLAS COWBOYS

If we rank these by combined A and B grades, we get:

1) Football Team: 78%
2) Giants: 69%
3) Eagles: 67%
4) Cowboys: 61%

Interesting. I didn’t expect Washington would grade so favorably. If anything, I thought it would be the Giants who finished on top if it wasn’t going to be the Eagles.

New York did miss out on getting DeVonta Smith, which is kind of a big deal. The Eagles are very happy to have him instead. But the G-Men picking a 2022 first-round pick from the Chicago Bears was also very significant.

Still, I don’t agree with these rankings. I would actually go:

1) Eagles
2) Giants
3) Football Team
4) Cowboys

To be clear, the gap between Philly and New York isn’t very big for me. But I did have to knock them for what felt like forcing a pick on Kadarius Toney.

As for the Football Team, I thought the picks they made were generally fine. But their draft class is still defined by what they didn’t manage to do, which is finding a franchise quarterback.

The Cowboys are the clear-cut losers and I promise you this isn’t me just hating on them like you might expect. I said prior to the NFL Draft that they would be mistaken to only load up on defense while eschewing their need for more offensive line help.
