Corey Clement won’t be returning to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021.
The South Jersey native is staying in the NFC East, though, as he’s signing with the New York Giants. Clement was invited to the Giants’ rookie minicamp as a tryout player and apparently made a strong impression.
Clement should always be remembered in Philly for his valuable contributions to the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory. He logged four catches for a team-high 100 receiving yards and one touchdown. Pretty impressive stuff from an undrafted rookie free agent signing.
The Eagles were high on Clement going into 2018. He failed to ever take a step forward, though. Injury issues seemed to hamper his development. There was no need for the Eagles to re-sign him this offseason, especially after bringing back Jordan Howard, drafting Kenny Gainwell, and picking up Kerryon Johnson.
Perhaps a change of scenery will do Clement good. He’s only 26 and might have some good football left in him. There’s thought he has a legitimate chance to make the Giants’ roster:
I think Corey Clement could legitimately push for a #Giants roster spot. Has extensive special teams experience (coverage and returning) which obviously is important to Joe Judge.

Judge (with NE) also saw what Clement could do as a RB in the Super Bowl (100 rec yards) in 2017. https://t.co/17Q3k7WOKI
For Clement’s sake, I hope he personally does well with his new team. For the Eagles’ sake, I hope he doesn’t contribute to any meaningful success for the Giants.
