The Eagles were back on the clock pretty quickly Friday night and selected G/C Landon Dickerson out of Alabama at No. 37. It wasn’t a particularly exciting pick, and the incoming rookie has had his share of injuries the past four years, but we all know that Howie Roseman goes a little rogue in the second round.
Not surprisingly, though, Eagles first round pick DeVonta Smith was quick to celebrate adding his teammate from Alabama.
BIG COUNTRRYYYYYYYY !! @Landon_2012

Here are some other reactions from media members, analysts and fans.
Two straight Alabama players drafted by #Eagles after not taking one in 18 years. Landon Dickerson is their 2nd round pick. He's a mountain at 6-6, 333.

I love Landon Dickerson. That is all.

When you have an OL coach with a proven history of developing day 3 players, you simply can't pass up the opportunity to stay at 37 and draft a guy with three separate season-ending injuries. https://t.co/9TJpyIxyAX

Can play G/C, potential replacement for Kelce, but has a track record of knee injuries. https://t.co/F5NBFfywZI

Landon Dickerson is a terrific player. From a culture standpoint, he's ideal. You absolutely want him on your team. But his injury history scares the heck out of me. Multiple ACL tears.

#Eagles go with another highly graded player in Dickerson, who is is the top graded center for this draft. He's coming back from a torn left ACL, but projects to be Kelce's future replacement in 2022.#Eagles stick by their board again.#NFLDraft2021

Landon Dickerson suffered his share of injuries in college. His season ended in last year's SEC title game when he tore his ACL. Could have been a first rounder if not for the medical concerns. #Eagles roll the dice.

Alabama OL Landon Dickerson is known as a strong leader and quality player, but has a pretty extensive injury history, including a torn ACL suffered in SEC Championship Game in December.
— Tim McManus (@Tim_McManus) April 30, 2021
The Eagles are clearly thinking about their future with this pick. Landon Dickerson has some obvious medical concerns (two ACL tears in college) but the upside is huge.

Do you need to draft a guard in the second round? Brandon Brooks wasn't drafted in the second round. Evan Mathis? So he succeeds Kelce at center, instead of any of the three guys they already have who can do that? Quite a luxury.

The Eagles have now drafted more Alabama players this year than they had TOTAL dating back to 1996

Eagles really trying to prove they are putting pieces around Hurts. Really wanted defense there but Landon Dickerson is my kind of person.
— Kelly (@football_kelly) April 30, 2021
VERY strong start to the draft by the #Eagles going back to back Bama.
— Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) April 30, 2021
I wrote about Dickerson a few months back as a sensible Day 2 target for the #Eagles. Think it's a solid move. He miiiight be a guard in the league because of his size, but it's a good value pick if his medical checks out. pic.twitter.com/1iiJPvQHa2

I don't hate the Dickerson pick. As I said, he is the kind of leader you absolutely want. And he is a really good player. If healthy, he would have gone in the 1st. The Eagles felt he was worth the risk at 37. I would have taken someone else, but this isn't a terrible pick.

Landon Dickerson will naturally go to guard for a year... he’s a glue guy. Eagles OL needs this type of depth.
— Kevin Negandhi (@KNegandhiESPN) April 30, 2021
Alabama, Alabama.... why not. Landon Dickerson C...G...is another excellent player. My only reservation is a knee injury that ended his season. I did see him do cartwheels while Mac Jones was doing an interview at a pro day. Assuming he got the medical thumbs up he’s a winner.

Landon Dickerson allowed just one sack in 825 pass-blocking snaps in his college career.#Eagles pic.twitter.com/44JdmkpmKI
