The 2021 NFL Draft finally gets underway in just over 24 hours and we’re starting to hear from more prospects as they gear up for the big weekend. Some players were asked who their dream teammate (or opponent) would be, and Virginia Tech offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw named Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts as the guy he’d most like to block for.
“Just seeing his journey and motivation, I definitely would like to play with a guy like that.”
Darrisaw would be a stretch for the Eagles to take at No. 12, but could still be a potential pick should Howie Roseman end up trading down in the first round. Still, with prospects naming guys all around the league — notably Cam Newton — it’s interesting that Darrisaw would pick the Eagles’ second-year quarterback over many other options. Seems to speak to the respect that Hurts holds from his fellow players.
There doesn’t seem to be an obvious connection between Darrisaw and Hurts, but the OT isn’t the first player to note Hurts’ collegiate journey as motivation. The good news is we don’t have too much longer to wait to find out who the new additions to the Eagles’ offensive line will end up being.
