Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky
6’3” 235 Lbs. 4.37- 40 Yard Dash
The Pick:
Cleveland is on the cusp of being a perennial playoff team. Their offense is dynamic and will be even more so with the return of Odell Beckham Jr. The defensive line is adding veteran pieces up front this offseason with Malik Jackson, Takk McKinley, and Jadeveon Clowney. John Johnson III and Troy Hill have been added to the back end so a young speed LB is needed to finish the job.
One of this year’s fastest-rising prospects, Davis made a statement with his performance at the Wildcats’ pro day workout, putting up eye-popping numbers for a player of his size.
Davis ranked third in the SEC in tackles (102) despite missing one game due to an undisclosed issue. He also contributed four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown in Kentucky’s first win at Tennessee since 1984.
As a side note, it would not surprise me if old friends Andrew Berry and Howie Roseman decide to do a deal. Picks 37 and 84 should get Philly back into the first round. Another speedy LB such as Jabril Cox or even Zaven Collins could be available at 37.
