The Eagles might be playing a London game in 2021

Road game, though. Not losing a home one ... yet.

There’s a 20% chance the Philadelphia Eagles will be playing a road game in London during the 2021 NFL season.

The Atlanta Falcons officially announced they’re hosting a game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London this year. Their opponent isn’t yet known but we do have the knowledge that it won’t be a divisional game. That, then, eliminates the options to one of the following five teams: the Eagles, the Washington Football Team, the New England Patriots, the New York Jets, and the Detroit Lions.

While it’s nice to know that, if chosen, the Eagles won’t be losing a home game, the reality is that’s going to be happening to them at some point in the future. Alongside instituting a 17th regular season game, the NFL also announced every team is required to play at least one international “home” game every eight years.

The Eagles last played an overseas matchup in London during the 2018 season, when they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in a “road” game at Wembley Stadium. The Eagles were potentially in the mix to play in Mexico last year before COVID nixed the league’s international games.

If not sooner, we’ll find out whether the Eagles are playing in London or not when the NFL officially unveils their 2021 schedule. The release date is to be determined but it’s typically a week before or after the NFL Draft.
