Super Bowl LV is here! Before the big game officially kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the point spread.
My overall record this season is 133-127-6. The collective BGN community, meanwhile, is 130-130-6. I already clinched my (narrow) win over you guys but you’re still playing to finish above .500.

SUPER BOWL LV
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-3) at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Betting against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid feels pretty foolish at this point. The Chiefs’ offense is basically unstoppable. This game could feasibly be a rout in their favor and everyone would kick themselves for talking themselves out of picking KC.
And yet, here I am, leaning with Tampa in this one.
I admit to having ulterior motives. I don’t want to see Tom Brady win again. But I can legitimately see a path where the Bucs win. Their defense was able to shut down 2020 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers when it counted in the NFC Championship Game. Their defensive line might cause some problems for a Chiefs offensive line that’s banged up. Probably not enough to shut the Chiefs down all game long, no, but maybe it’ll allow them to get that one crucial stop or takeaway they need.
Speaking of turnovers, there’s probably no way the Bucs can win if Brady turns the ball over more than once. Even that might be too much. But I think he’ll be better than he was against the Packers. For as much as it’s hard to dismiss the Chiefs, you can never count out Touchdown Tom. Especially in the Super Bowl, a game he’s been to nine times before.
I’ll be pretty happy to be wrong about this pick but I’m taking the Bucs with the points.
