Two players were ruled OUT: Miles Sanders and Zech McPhearson.
Sanders is headed to injured reserve and will thus miss the Eagles’ next three games (at least). Philadelphia will likely call up Jordan Howard from the practice squad to go along with Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott. The Lions have a better ground defense (tied for eight in opponent rushing yards per attempt) than air defense (32nd in opponent passing yards per attempt), so it’s not necessarily a week to Run The Ball at every turn.
McPhearson failed to practice this week due to a hamstring injury. His absence isn’t a major deal but hurts the Eagles’ depth at cornerback and special teams.
One player was ruled DOUBTFUL: Anthony Harris.
The veteran safety missed Wednesday’s practice before he was limited on Thursday and Friday. With Harris likely not playing, the Eagles currently have just two healthy safeties on the 53-man roster: Rodney McLeod and Marcus Epps. The team could look to elevate Elijah Riley from the practice squad again ... and/or activate K’Von Wallace from injured reserve, assuming he’s healthy enough to play. Harris might be able to return next week.
One player was ruled QUESTIONABLE: J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.
JJAW missed Wednesday’s practice before being limited on Thursday and upgraded to full go on Friday. Seems like he might play.
DeVonta Smith, Javon Hargrave, Landon Dickerson, and Ryan Kerrigan are all listed without game statuses. They’ll see the field in Detroit despite missing practice time this week.
It’s currently unclear if Wallace and/or Tyree Jackson will be activated from IR ahead of this week’s game. The Eagles have until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday to make that decision.
