The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
One player DID NOT PARTICIPATE: Anthony Harris.
The veteran safety is listed on the report with “hands.” We previously knew he injured one of his hands in the Eagles’ Week 6 game. He missed some snaps against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before later returning. We did not know he injured both of his hands. We’ll see how he progresses leading up to Sunday but, for now, Harris appears to be in jeopardy of missing this week’s game. Rodney McLeod and Marcus Epps are currently the only two healthy full-time safeties on the 53-man roster.
Four players were LIMITED PARTICIPANTS: Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Derek Barnett, and Rick Lovato.
Nick Sirianni wouldn’t confirm if Johnson will definitely play this week despite his return to the team. The Eagles seem to be easing him back in. It’s possible that Johnson’s conditioning isn’t in top shape after missing three games. Derrick Gunn reports that the Eagles “will wait until Friday to determine” if Johnson will play against the Raiders. They must want to gauge how he looks in practice.
Kelce being limited early in the week is nothing new. Just getting some rest to help him make it to Sunday.
Hardly the first time in his career that Barnett is battling through an injury issue. One would guess he’ll be able to go in Las Vegas.
Lovato’s injury is new. It’s unclear if the Eagles’ long snapper got banged up in the last game or something happened in Wednesday’s practice. Something to monitor over the next two days. The Eagles re-signing Richard Rodgers to the practice squad gives them some extra depth at long snapper since he’s previously prepped to be an emergency fill-in option at that spot.
Not listed on the injury report since they’re not on the 53-man roster but other players worth discussing: Dallas Goedert, Tyree Jackson, and K’Von Wallace.
Goedert is still on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It’s not ideal that he’s already missed one practice leading up to this week’s game. It’s possible he could return as soon as Thursday assuming he turns in two negative tests 24 hours apart. But it’s also possible he doesn’t do that in time to play on Sunday. For context, other players in the league have missed multiple games while on the COVID list. The Eagles re-signing Dick Rod indicates they’re at least prepping for the possibility that Goedert can’t play. Another thing to monitor.
With the Eagles activating his 21-day practice window, Jackson practiced for the first time since injuring his back in mid-August. It’s unclear if Jackson will be able to play as soon as this week or if he needs more time to ramp up. I could be wrong but I would guess the latter. The Eagles could really use Jackson back with Goedert currently missing and Zach Ertz traded.
Wallace also had his 21-day practice window activated. The Eagles could look to bring him off injured reserve as soon as this week with Harris potentially out.
