NFL WEEK 5 GAMES
NEW YORK JETS at ATLANTA FALCONS (-3): What a boring matchup. Even if the game turns out to be better than expected, who really cares about the outcome? I guess I’ll go with the Jets because they lack talent and were fortunate to get a win last week. Don’t think they’re good enough to win two in a row. But it’s hard to feel great betting on the Falcons. Ugh. PICK: Falcons -3

GREEN BAY PACKERS (-2.5) at CINCINNATI BENGALS: I don’t think it’s impossible the Bengals can pull off the upset here. The Packers being without Jaire Alexander is significant as their pass defense could very well get exposed by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Then again, this is a Cincy team that wasn’t looking all that great against the Jags not so long ago. And betting against Aaron Rodgers isn’t fruitful. PICK: Packers -2.5

MIAMI DOLPHINS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-10): The Dolphins have been outscored 86 to 45 since Jacoby Brissett took over for an injured Tua Tagovailoa. Even without Gronk, the Bucs have enough going for them to cover the spread in this spot. PICK: Buccaneers -10

TENNESSEE TITANS (-4) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Coming off a loss against the Jets, the Titans aren’t very inspiring. But they’re getting A.J. Brown back, so that could help. You won’t find me betting on Urban Meyer to come through. PICK: Titans -4

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at CAROLINA PANTHERS (-2.5): The Panthers opened as 3.5-point or 4-point favorites, depending on where you looked. The line has since been trending in Philly’s direction. No Christian McCaffrey hurts the Panthers. So does an offensive line that can be exploited by the Eagles’ defensive front. The Birds need this game more and they’ll at least take this one down to the wire, which makes the points tempting. PICK: Eagles +2.5

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (-7.5) at HOUSTON TEXANS: Tempted to take the points because the Pats are far from a scoring machine (17.75 points per game). But the Texans look so listless with Davis Mills at the helm. PICK: Patriots -7.5

DETROIT LIONS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-10): The Lions have been fighting hard under Dan Campbell but their talented is too limited. And for all of the Vikings’ flaws, Kirk Cousins does typically beat up on bad teams. PICK: Vikings -10

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-2.5) at WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM: It’s hard to know what you’re going to get out of the Saints given Jameis Winston’s volatility. But New Orleans has enough to take advantage of a surprisingly bad Football Team defense. PICK: Saints -2.5

CLEVELAND BROWNS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-2.5): This should be a great matchup. Tempted to give the Chargers the edge with Justin Herbert over Baker Mayfield. But Cleveland’s running game looms large; Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt could be due for big days. PICK: Browns +2.5

CHICAGO BEARS at LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (-5): The Raiders will bounce back after their first loss of the season. The Justin Fields hype hasn’t nearly matched the production. PICK: Raiders -5
