Eagles “not in the mix” for Deshaun Watson “at this point”

Jay Glazer says Philly isn’t in the mix for the Texans QB.

Deshaun Watson trade rumors are heating up but the Philadelphia Eagles are “not in the mix” to acquire the Houston Texans quarterback, according to NFL insider Jay Glazer.

For further clarity, Glazer followed up with these tweets as well:

It was previously reported that Watson would not waive his no-trade clause to come to Philly. It’s unclear if Watson’s disinterest in the Eagles has caused the team to stop pursuing him. Perhaps it’s just a factor in an equation that also includes the sexual assault allegations against Watson.

In any case, it doesn’t look like the Eagles will be acquiring Watson ahead of the 2021 NFL trade deadline at 4:00 PM Eastern on Tuesday, November 2. It’s still worth monitoring what happens to him since, if he goes to Miami, that development could impact the Dolphins’ 2022 first-round pick that’s owed to Philly.

It’s also possible that the Eagles’ interest in Watson rekindles down the road, should his legal situation be resolved. Or maybe they’ve moved on for good.

One thing we do know is that as long as the Eagles continue to lack a definitive franchise quarterback, they’ll continue to look for an answer at that spot.
