NFL Picks Against the Spread: Wild Card Playoff Games

Suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

NFL: Preseason-Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Before the wild card round of the 2021 NFL playoffs kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for these games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via DraftKings SportsBook.

My regular season recorded finished at 128-123-5. I once again beat out the collective BGN community, which finished 126-125-5. Let’s see how we do against each other now in the playoffs.

WILD CARD GAMES

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at BUFFALO BILLS (-6.5): The phrase I keep using to describe the Bills is “well-oiled machine.” They’re really just firing on all cylinders heading into the postseason. Josh Allen is playing at a very high level and he should benefit from his taste of playoff experience last year. Buffalo’s offense will provide too challenging for the lackluster Colts to handle. Philip Rivers won’t be able to keep up with all the scoring. The Bills are my pick to win the Super Bowl so I obviously have to take them here. PICK: Bills -6.5

LOS ANGELES RAMS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-3): For a team that went 12-4 in the regular season, the Seahawks don’t feel very threatening. Seattle only ranks ninth in point differential, which is just one spot ahead of the Rams at No. 10. But Los Angeles isn’t in good shape right now with their quarterback situation. Whether it’s a less than 100% Jared Goff or John Wolford, it’s hard to go with them over Russell Wilson. Even with the LA defense being really good. PICK: Seahawks -3

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-8) at WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM: Not a big believer in the Bucs but Washington’s just not in good shape. The Football Team struggled to easily beat an Eagles team that didn’t even want to win in Week 17. Taylor Heinicke doesn’t seem likely to outduel Tom Brady. The Bucs will roll in this game and have people thinking they’re better than they truly are. PICK: Buccaneers -8

BALTIMORE RAVENS (-3) at TENNESSEE TITANS: I’m not an anti-Titans guy; there’s a lot to like about Tennessee. Mike Vrabel’s a good head coach, Derrick Henry is awesome, Ryan Tannehill is legitimately good. But, man, that Titans defense is entirely gettable. And they’re about to get got by a resurgent Ravens offense that’s been trending in the right direction. Lamar Jackson is due for a playoff win and he’s finally going to get it here. Baltimore will be out for revenge after losing to the Titans last year. PICK: Ravens -3

CHICAGO BEARS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-10): You know what? The Saints are getting too much respect here. This is a team that lost to Jalen Hurts in his first NFL start. This is a team that find a way to choke in the playoffs every year. Wouldn’t it be fitting that their next embarrassment is losing to Mitchell Trubisky? I don’t know that I have enough faith in the Bears to actually pull off the upset but they can at least keep this competitive. PICK: Bears +10

CLEVELAND BROWNS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (-6): Poor Browns. They finally get into the postseason for the first time since 2002 and then COVID prevents them from properly preparing for their playoff game. I do like the Steelers to win this one. But Pittsburgh had some issues late in the regular season that make me believe this spread is a little too large. I like the points. PICK: Browns +6
