A report emerged last week indicating the Philadelphia Eagles could lose run game coordinator/offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland to Alabama.
That won’t be happening, though, with the Crimson Tide reportedly set to hire former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone for their offensive line coach opening instead.
It might still be too early to say that Stouland will definitely be back with the Eagles in 2021. He’s currently under contract with the team, yes, but perhaps Philly’s next head coach will want their own offensive line coach. Or maybe Stoutland won’t want to work for the new hire, depending on who it is.
But with the Alabama job now filled, there’s at least more hope for Stoutland returning to Philly. Retaining him would be ideal since he’s overseen a lot of Eagles offensive line success since he joined Chip Kelly’s original coaching staff all the way back in 2013.
Here’s hoping Stout is back.
