Doug Pederson and Jeffrey Lurie are set to meet in South Florida at some point on Monday, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark.
According to recent reports, this meeting will be critical in determining Pederson’s future with the team. Will the head coach be able to convince the team owner that he deserves to stay?
It doesn’t appear like things are trending in that direction. Pederson reportedly wants to make passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Press Taylor his offensive coordinator, which seems like a bizarre hill to die on. There isn’t much evidence to suggest Taylor is the solution to the Eagles’ offensive woes.
Perhaps Pederson will come to Lurie with a different plan. Or perhaps the Super Bowl-winning head coach will hold firm with the belief that he’ll be able to find a new job elsewhere. After all, it’s previously been said that Pederson “wouldn’t be totally unhappy if he ends up getting fired.”
