Eagles’ first round of cuts pass through waivers unclaimed

Good news for Philly.

The Philadelphia Eagles waived 12 players on Thursday but none of them were claimed on waivers, according to Friday’s NFL official transaction wire update. This means the following players are free agents available to sign with any team:

WR Deontay Burnett

OL Luke Juriga

S Grayland Arnold

RB Elijah Holyfield

S Elijah Riley

RB Adrian Killins

WR Travis Fulgham

WR Marcus Green

RB Michael Warren

OG Julian Good-Jones

TE Tyrone Swoopes

WR Manassaeh Bailey

The Eagles seemingly wanted to get a jump on the waiver process by doing cuts early on Thursday. The waiver period for Friday and Saturday cuts doesn’t end until 12:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 5.

While it’s good to see that none of the Eagles’ potential practice squad candidates have been poached, there’s still time for that to change. If a team really wants one of these guys, there’s nothing stopping them from making an offer right now. NFL teams aren’t allowed to sign players to their practice squad until 1:00 PM ET on Sunday.

Burnett, Juriga, Arnold, Holyfield, Riley, and Killins seem like the safest bets to make the practice squad if they remain available. It’s also possible the Eagles could re-sign one of those players (like Burnett?) to the 53-man roster after opening up a spot by doing something like placing Will Parks on injured reserve.
