2020 NFL roster cuts are underway. The Philadelphia Eagles — along with 31 other teams — have until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday, September 5 to get their roster down to the regular season 53-player limit.

Stay tuned to this thread for lives updates on Eagles cuts, trades, news, rumors, and more. The Eagles likely won’t officially confirm their roster moves until Saturday afternoon but some of their cuts will slowly leak out through media reports before then. Hence the purpose of this tracker.

IMPORTANT DATES AND TIMES

Saturday, September 5, 4:00 PM: Roster must be down to 53 players.

Sunday, September 6, 12:00 PM: NFL waiver wire claims will be revealed after this point.

Sunday, September 6, 1:00 PM: 16-player practice squads can start to be formed.

CUTS, TRADES, RUMORS, AND UPDATES

NEWEST UPDATES POSTED AT THE TOP OF THIS SECTION. Read from bottom up for chronological order.

[4:34 PM ET] - THE EAGLES OFFICIALLY CUT THEIR ROSTER DOWN TO 53 PLAYERS.

[3:53 PM ET] - The Eagles are keeping Casey Toohill, which was expected with Ostman and Miller out the door. The 2020 seventh-round pick had a good camp. (Source: Mike Kaye)

[2:44 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving guard Sua Opeta. No surprise there but the Eagles did promote him from the practice squad last year to prevent the Miami Dolphins from poaching him. They’d like him back on the practice squad if possible. Roster is unofficially down to 56 players. (Source: Dave Zangaro)

[1:51 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving Joe Ostman, which is a legitimate surprise. He had a really good camp for the second year in a row. Are the Eagles really going to keep Genard Avery, who did nothing this summer, over him? Also good news for Casey Toohill making the team. Roster is unofficially down to 57 players. (Source: Adam Schefter)

[1:43 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving cornerback Rasul Douglas as well. Roster is unofficially down to 58 players.

[1:32 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly “still trying to trade Alshon Jeffery — as they have since early last season.” The report notes a deal is “improbable” due to Jeffery’s contract and injury status, however. (Source: Jeff McLane)

[1:31 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving defensive end Shareef Miller. The 2019 fourth-round pick only played two special teams snaps last year. Roster is unofficially down to 59 players. (Source: Ian Rapoport)

[1:28 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving cornerback Sidney Jones. The 2017 second-round pick just didn’t justify earning a spot on the 53. Clearly didn’t have trade value, either. Roster is unofficially down to 60 players. (Source: Ian Rapoport)

[12:30 PM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving defensive tackle Raequan Williams. The team had a draftable grade on him but he didn’t stand much of a chance of sticking since Philly is deep at defensive tackle. The Eagles will probably want him back on the practice squad. Roster is unofficially down to 61 players. (Source: Jeremy Fowler)

[11:48 AM ET] - Washington Football Team reportedly cut Richard Rodgers. Eagles could bring him back to be their third tight end if they really wanted to. Guessing Philly will opt to keep Noah Togiai instead.

[11:42 AM ET] - The Eagles are reportedly waiving defensive tackle Anthony Rush. The Eagles originally waived Rush last summer to make room for ... Orlando Scandrick. He ended up on the Raiders’ practice squad and then the Eagles brought him back to Philly. Now he’s gone again but he’s a practice squad candidate if he’s not picked up. Roster is unofficially down to 62 players. (Source: Terez Paylor)

[9:29 AM ET] - The Eagles’ first round of cuts (12 players on Thursday) passed through waivers unclaimed.

[8:50 AM ET] - Just posted a roster cuts primer with answers to frequently asked questions. Included some of the new rules in there.

[7:52 AM ET] - Eagles cornerbacks Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas have reportedly been “raised in trade talks.” Can’t imagine there’s going to much of a market for them. Likely that at least one will be gone via cut or trade.

[7:51 AM ET] - Cut down day is here. Should be an interesting one. Reminder that you can [click here] for our final 53-man roster projection.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

[4:55 PM ET] - The Eagles officially confirmed the Williams and McGill cuts in addition to waiving Michael Jacquet, Caleb Wilson, and Matt Leo (who was on a roster exemption). Roster is officially down to 63 players.

[10:24 AM ET] - The Eagles reportedly released cornerback Trevor Williams and defensive tackle T.Y. McGill. No surprises there. Bringing Williams back on the practice squad would give the Eagles more veteran depth at that position. Roster is unofficially down to 65 players. (Sources: Adam Schefter and Dave Zangaro)

[8:10 AM ET] - The Eagles reportedly signed Craig James to a contract extension, which indicates he’s making the team. Sidney Jones and/or Rasul Douglas could be on the way out.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

[4:59 PM ET] - The Eagles officially placed Andre Dillard on injured reserve. Dillard being placed on IR now (as opposed to after roster cuts) means he’s ineligible to return this season. Roster is officially down to 67 players.

[4:52 PM ET] - The Eagles officially waived 12 players: Grayland Arnold, Manasseh Bailey, Deontay Burnett, Travis Fulgham, Julian Good-Jones, Elijah Holyfield, Luke Juriga, Adrian Killins, Elijah Riley, Tyrone Swoopes, Michael Warren. The roster is down to 68 players.

[4:14 PM ET] - The Eagles are waiving undrafted rookie free agent center/guard Luke Juriga and they want him on the practice squad if he clears waivers. Juriga received the highest guarantee out of Philly’s UDFA signings. Roster is unofficially down to 76. (Source: Mike Kaye)

[3:44 PM ET] - The cuts have reportedly begun. Deontay Burnett (!), Marcus Green, and Manassaeh Bailey are the first ones to go. Burnett being out is surprising; he arguably had a better camp than starting slot receiver Greg Ward and he’s three years younger. The Eagles reportedly want Burnett on their practice squad but a team would be wise to claim him. Burnett’s departure means the Eagles will likely only six wide receivers on the 53. Green did some nice things in camp but maxes out as a practice squad candidate and might not even make that. Roster is unofficially down to 77 players. (Sources: Adam Caplan and Dave Zangaro)
