About Carson...

So interesting perceptive from my friend who played a bit of QB in HS and College and really likes to break down film, he was like the problem with Carson is completely mental.

So this is the text it's kind of long but hey he knows his stuff more often than not and is kind of busy because he just had a kid.

Him: Carson is waiting for guys who are thrust into the lineup to get open which throws off his timing rather than moving on quickly. When he sees these new guys in these new roles he has trouble adjusting where he places the ball according to where he worked on it with the guys who these plays were drawn up for, that is glaringly obvious. He seems to be targetting an area on the fly which is hard to do in a timing offense he practiced all off-season for.

The INTs are ugly but he seems to be opting for mismatches and trying to throw to an open area ( old dictum, the more you aim, the more you miss); like the pass to Ertz is the exact same route they run for that kid Goedert up the sideline last year a few times.

Goedert will go inside because he has trouble adjusting to the ball in the air on the outside should but Ertz wont. It's little things like that.

About his mechanics - don't worry Carson never had consistent mechanics it's what allows him to change arm angles and off platform so well.

Footwork - His feet are jumpy ass hell though. Understandable the pocket is getting pushed into him a ton and he can't exactly take a deeper drop because Jason Peters is getting beat with speed which is why the inside moves are working so well, he's oversetting to account for that, while Lane Johnson isn't a 100% so he is prone to speed as well.

Basically while entrapped in his own tomb for all intensive purposes, Carson is trying to get rid of the ball while protecting it under duress. There's too much going on there and he's missing high because it's an all arm throw.

It's also why he's not floating it as much since the Washington game. Even in clean pockets his eyes are dropping and he's becoming late because he's looking at the rush too often, so he's trying to make up for the mistimed pass with his arm & yeah he's gotta cannon at 6'5 235ish so I'm guessing he really has a ton of confidence in that arm, but that's also mistake that 1st and 2nd yr QBs make because their timing is off, not something you'd see from a 5th year QB. While his feet have to be better it's his timing that's the main issue.

Play calling - I never got your love for Doug Pederson, while most of his calls work they are so lame and kind of difficult throws in most offenses. The offense isn't exactly QB friendly when things aren't stable at OL. Look at McVay's offense the harder throws Goff makes are the easiest throws Carson makes. Told you way back when your team needs to add layers to your offense so it doesn't become predictable which it is becoming. The reads are a bit difficult.

Again OL play is more important than WR play.

Once the OL gels better he should be back to normal relatively speaking depending on the new injuries your team is suffering from... Make no mistake man, Carson is still good, he's just adjusting to a shit storm around him with the injuries & overall drop off in talent, and for once is actually getting burned by some of his rash decisions he got away with in the past.

I told you he's a 25ishTD to 12ish INT kind of QB. He's a risk taker. He is going to throw the ball into tight windows when he shouldn't but I think that's part of his DNA now. But right now, Doug Pederson needs to emphasize they need him to be Alex Smith for now in an offense designed for Smith while in KC so that Carson and Doug keep their jobs.

I still stand by my preseason prediction of 8-8 or rather 8-7-1 now and given how bad the roster is (seriously how is your GM still alive Or have a job). But also how bad our division is, that may be a home playoff game LMAO.

So what do you guys think about his takeaway?

I don't know, I think Carson is a massive issue but he does make some important points but I can't understand why Doug doesn't trust him more and In my opinion he's not seeing the field and is missing bad. However this guy has been on point as far as I can remember when it comes to QB play.

As always leave your responses at the bottom.
