The third Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season is here! That means it’s time to run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 3 games.
CINCINNATI BENGALS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: Teams that start 0-3 have a 2.5% chance of making the playoffs. The most wins the Eagles have ever finished with after starting 0-3 in a season is six. It’s a must-win matchup to keep the season alive. Root for the Eagles.
NFC EAST GAMES
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at NEW YORK GIANTS: I can envision the scenario where the Giants beat a banged up 49ers team and the Eagles beat the Bengals. Such an outcome would have people believing Philly can rebound to 2-2. But it’s obviously better for the Eagles if the Giants lose this game when it comes to the division standings. Root for the 49ers.
WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM at CLEVELAND BROWNS: Easy call to root for the AFC team over a division rival. Especially when that rival is in first place and currently holds a tiebreaker over the Eagles. Root for the Browns.
DALLAS COWBOYS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: If you’re of the belief that the Eagles should bottom out, well, it’s better for the Cowboys to run away with the NFC East. But since we’re not all fully there yet, screw Dallas. Root for the Seahawks.
HOUSTON TEXANS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: The Eagles play the Stillers in a couple weeks. Better for Pittsburgh to be good as possible because Philly beating them would improve their strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Steelers.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: If the Eagles are going to be really bad, we’re going to have to pivot for rooting for draft position. In preparation of that, the only interest in this game lies in that category, so go Patriots. Root for the Patriots.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at BALTIMORE RAVENS: The Eagles play the Ravens in a few weeks. Better for Baltimore to be good as possible because Philly beating them would improve their strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Ravens.
