DID NOT PRACTICE
COREY CLEMENT, VINNY CURRY, JOHN HIGHTOWER, HASSAN RIDGEWAY, ANTHONY RUSH
The NFL issued a statement on Sunday morning:
Saturday’s daily COVID testing returned several positives tests from each of the clubs serviced by the same laboratory in New Jersey. We are working with our testing partner, BioReference, to investigate these results, while the clubs work to confirm or rule out the positive tests. Clubs are taking immediate precautionary measures as outlined in the NFL-NFLPA’s health and safety protocols to include contact tracing, isolation of individuals and temporarily adjusting the schedule, where appropriate. The other laboratories used for NFL testing have not had similar results.
The Eagles use the NJ lab referenced here but it can’t necessarily be assumed that their illness designations are related to this issue. The Eagles have had multiple players out due to illness that returned the next day in the past wek.
LANE JOHNSON
Johnson was pedaling on a stationary bike on the sideline during practice today. Matt Pryor lined up at right tackle in his place.
MILES SANDERS
The Eagles are taking a cautious approach with Sanders. He’s expected to be ready for Week 1.
SIDNEY JONES
Jones has missed four straight practices. You know that “you can’t make the club in the tub” phrase? I have Jones on my current 53-man roster prediction but I was tempted to leave him off. A trade or release, which would clear $1.3 million in cap space, could be on the table.
BOSTON SCOTT
Unless I misread a jersey number (possible since we’re sometimes watching practice from a far distance), I thought I saw Scott take some reps in group install. That could be a sign he’ll be back soon.
MARCUS EPPS
Epps missed his second straight practice.
DEREK BARNETT
Barnett reportedly has “a realistic shot” to play in Week 1. Still not great to see him missing so much practice time.
ROBERT DAVIS
Davis being week-to-week ends his long shot chance to make the roster and could also leave him off practice squad consideration. His injury potentially opens an opportunity for new addition Travis Fulgham, who is another big bodied receiver.
JAVON HARGRAVE
Hargrave reportedly has “a realistic shot” to play in Week 1.
JOSH PERKINS
Perkins being listed “out indefinitely” seems like pretty bad news for him. Maybe the Eagles end up putting him on injured reserve or waiving him with an injury settlement. Perkins’ injury opens the door for undrafted rookie free agent Noah Togiai or Caleb Wilson to make the 53. Or maybe the Eagles will bring Alex Ellis back since he was recently cut by the New England Patriots.
BANGED UP DURING PRACTICE
ANDRE DILLARD
The Eagles’ starting left tackle slowly walked off the field to get looked at by trainers. He then went inside the facility and did not return. With Dillard out, the Eagles used Jordan Mailata at left tackle since Matt Pryor was lining up at first team right tackle. Jason Peters remained at right guard.
SHAREEF MILLER
Miller slowly walked off the field to get looked at before returning to the sideline a little later. Miller can’t really afford to miss much time as he tries to push for a roster spot.
BACK AT PRACTICE
ZACH ERTZ
Good to see Ertz back in full force after sitting out Friday’s physical session.
DALLAS GOEDERT
Goedert returned to practice with some kind of cast/wrap on his hand due to the hairline fracture he has in his thumb. It impacted his catching ability at one point.
JALEN REAGOR, DEONTAY BURNETT, RASUL DOUGLAS
These dudes missed Friday’s practice due to illness but were back today.
