Eagles already dealing with two key defensive line injuries on the first day of training camp

Sigh ...

NFL: JAN 05 NFC Wild Card - Seahawks at Eagles

The Eagles were on the field in pads for the first time on Monday and the team had some injuries to report before practice even began.

Doug Pederson said earlier on Monday that Jason Peters would not take 100% of practice reps despite his change from tackle to guard. The head coach noted that they would still need to manage Peters since he’s an older player — and it looks like they’re doing that Day 1.

JJ Arcega-Whiteside is the only other day-to-day designee, so he shouldn’t be out long — which is good because he is certainly one of the guys under the microscope this offseason, and can use all the reps he can get.

Definitely not great news about Derek Barnett and Javon Hargrave, who are listed as week-to-week and multiple weeks, respectively. Barnett is someone several veterans — like, Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham — have been excited to see break out this year, and Hargrave was obviously a big signing in free agency.

Here’s hoping the Eagles get these guys back ahead of Week 1.

Some additional injury context from Adam Caplan:

Andre Dillard was also rotating reps with Jordan Mailata at first team left tackle. The explanation was that Dillard was dealing with an injury so the Eagles are easing him back in.
