Let’s go Flyers

The hockey team, the Flyers.

I’m pretty excited for the Philadelphia Flyers game tonight*, folks.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, the Flyers earned the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed after stomping three other good teams in the round-robin portion of the NHL’s return. They outscored their opponents by a combined total of 11 to 3 despite none of their top five forwards scoring and going 0-for-11 on power play opportunities.

All of this is to say: the Flyers are looking pretty friggin’ good! They’re fun to watch — very much unlike the Sixers and Phillies right now — and they have a legitimate chance to lift the Stanley Cup for the first time since last doing it in 1975.

The Eagles are obviously my biggest passion (both professionally and personally) but I’ll always have a soft spot for the Flyers, who were my first sports love. It’s been really nice to see them evolve from their status as a middling, directionless franchise to a real contender. Or at least I hope that’s what’s truly happening here.

Regardless, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon if you haven’t already.

Let’s go Flyers!
