In the first positive news regarding Alshon Jeffery in a long time, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo pointed to some good signs for the veteran wide receiver.

Jeffery begins training camp on the active/PUP list after suffering a Lisfranc injury in mid-December last year, but Garafolo, albeit with heavy qualifiers, said on Good Morning Football that word coming out of the organization is optimistic regarding Jeffery’s outlook for 2020.

“Mentally, Alshon Jeffery, supposedly, right now, in as good a place as he has been for a number of years. I’m talkin’ things like “locked in”, “focused”, “engaging with other people”. The Eagles really like what they’re seeing and hearing from Alshon Jeffery right now…

If this is a guy that comes back with a chip on his shoulder and motivated to, once he’s healthy, prove that he can still be a guy that needs to be accounted for and can still be a good teammate inside that locker room, that’s going to be an enormous key for the Philadelphia Eagles… a lot of positive things that I am hearing right now with regard to Alshon Jeffery.” - Mike Garafolo, Good Morning Football

Garafolo made a lot of disclaimers that take into account the usual training camp fluff, even saying that he wasn’t sure if Jeffery would be on the team if not for the guaranteed money owed to him to the tune of $11M, but overall the organization seems excited about Jeffery’s commitment and energy.

If what’s being said about Jeffery’s attitude is true, and he can get healthy sooner than later, it’ll be a significant boost to an offense that so sorely lacked viable starting playmakers last year. It would also possibly limit the distractions that Jeffery has been rumored to have caused in the past. Time will tell.
