BGN Quarantine Watch Party Poll: Help us decide what Eagles game to watch next!

Let’s celebrate T.O.!

It’s been a while!

I decided to take a break from the watch parties for a bit. Given the civil unrest in the country and some off-the-field controversy with the team, it felt best to take a backseat from these fun, light-hearted events.

With some time gone by, I’m bringing them back with a special Terrell Owens-themed week. Things will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. EST on Friday, July 31.

As a reminder:

The website we used to watch old games on YouTube is called Watch2Gether, where we can all do a live-running text thread discussing the game as the video plays. While there are a ton of old Birds games available to watch on YouTube, a lot of them are copyright-protected, meaning that we won’t be able to view them through Watch2Gether.

Here’s what we’re working with:

2004 Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns

This is the infamous game where Owens rips down Browns fans’ end zone signs talking smack on him after scoring. This was a surprisingly difficult game for the Birds, as they need overtime to beat a Browns team that finished 4-12. Donovan McNabb threw four touchdown passes with Owens hauling in two of them.

2004 Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens

On Halloween 2004, Philadelphia was at the peak of Owens mania. Against the second-best defense in the NFL according to DVOA, the Birds grinded towards a 15-10 win. Owens exploded with eight catches for 101 receiving yards and a touchdown, where he mocked Ray Lewis’ famous intro dance in the end zone afterwards. This victory put the Birds at 7-0 and solidified them as the top team in the NFC.

2004 Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys

Following his infamous Desperate Houswives-themed intro on Monday Night Football (don’t worry, this stream includes it), Owens and the Birds popped off in Dallas. McNabb had his infamous scramble and throw to Freddie Mitchell down the field, while Owens finished with three touchdown receptions. This may be my favorite regular season game from this run.

Looking forward to getting back to these! I hope you’ll come along for the fun.
