Barring setbacks and such.

Today’s the big day! Sort of.

Philadelphia Eagles players are officially reporting to the NovaCare Complex for training camp ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

Of course, things are going to be different with the coronavirus pandemic this year. Normally, the Eagles hold their first practice the day after they report to South Philly. That’s obviously not how it’s going to work this summer.

See below for a full overview of the current training camp schedule (h/t good friend Dave Spadaro). Hopefully the Eagles and other NFL teams can avoid setbacks caused by COVID-19 outbreaks like the one the Miami Marlins are experiencing.

TUESDAY, JULY 28

Roster must be down to 80 if not using a split squad setup.

Players receive their first COVID-19 test and screening for coronavirus. They will then return home.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 16

Day off.

Roster must be down to 80 even if using a split squad setup.

MONDAY, AUGUST 17 (AND BEYOND)

Padded practices begin — teams will be allowed 14 in total but not more than three days in a row.

My current understanding is this is when reporters (myself included) will be able to start watching the practices and writing up observations. Remember: Preseason games have officially been cancelled. So ... practice notes will be more valuable than ever.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Rosters must be cut down from 80 to 53 before 4:00 PM Eastern.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Teams can begin to build their 16-player practice squads after the waiver period ends. Six of those players can have an unlimited number of accrued seasons, meaning eligibility is less limited than ever.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 through SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

Week 1 practices and preparation.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Week 1 — Eagles at Washington Football Team in Landover, Maryland.
