Ross Tucker chimes in on Jason Peters, Andre Dillard, preseason and more

The Kist & Solak Show #188!

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles-Minicamp Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

You may know Ross Tucker from his work as the Philadelphia Eagles’ preseason color commentator. You may know that Benjamin Solak has launched repeated social media campaigns to get himself considered for that very same gig. Tucker definitely knew that last tidbit.

We had a lot of fun with Tucker on The Kist & Solak Show #188 as he had his own airing of grievances against us, but we also got some high quality football analysis out of him as well.

Among other topics, we discussed the outlook for the Eagles offensive line in 2020. Regarding the move to bring back Jason Peters on a cheap, one-year deal which also includes a position change to guard, Tucker had this to say...

“This is a very difficult move and essentially unprecedented... there’s only ever been 7 offensive linemen to start 10 games or more at age 38 or older, period. Let alone a guy going from left tackle to right guard...

Things happen so fast inside... you’re involved in every blitz pick-up... you’re going up against thicker, more powerful bodies. You don’t have the same timing of kick slide, kick slide, punch...

The two times I’ve seen a team take a tackle, move him to guard, have him be the starter, it was an abject failure. That said, I was also in Buffalo the day they moved Jason Peters from tight end to offensive tackle when Solak was 4 years old... What I can tell you is, it’s the craziest thing I saw in my 7 years in the NFL... He was better in 14 seconds than I was in 14 years...

If anybody can make that transition, it’s Jason.”

We dig more into the move, take some more verbal beatings from Tucker and discuss Andre Dillard’s sophomore campaign along with other topics on The Kist & Solak Show #188!
