The Philadelphia Eagles made headlines last week for bad reasons but now it sounds like some positive news might be on the way. Check out this tweet from NFL analyst Brian Baldinger:

One can only guess what he’s hinting at here.
Jadeveon Clowney is still on the market and there’s been some talk that his price tag is dropping. Could the Eagles really be the team to sign him? I have my doubts but maybe they’ll actually pull the trigger. They were previously rumored to be interested in him. Maybe it’s not Clowney but Everson Griffen instead?
Could the Eagles be trading for Jamal Adams? I can’t really see it considering his contract demands and the trade compensation cost. I’d be pretty surprised if Baldy is referring to Adams.
The Eagles seem likely to go with an internal option — like Matt Pryor — to fill in at Brandon Brooks’ right guard spot. They do have connections to some notable free agents like Larry Warford, though.
Speaking of the offensive line, is this the week that the Eagles re-sign Jason Peters? Derrick Gunn previously said that “it’s only a matter of time” before he’s back in Philly.
Maybe Baldy — who’s been guilty of hyperbole in the past (see: Asante Samuel and Dimitri Patterson are the best cornerback tandem in the NFL) — is over-hyping a smaller addition the Eagles might make. You know, such as signing LeSean McCoy or Devonta Freeman. The Eagles have been rumored in those two free agents.
It’s hard for me to believe the Eagles are about to spend major cap space considering the team is currently projected to be $50.7 million OVER in 2021. And that’s before accounting for any COVID-19 impact to the salary cap, which could make things trickier for Howie Roseman. The Eagles likely need to roll over a good chunk of their current $24.7 million to next year.
It’ll be interesting to see what this week has in store. What’s your guess as to what Baldy’s hinting about?
